Default Lexus poked holes in my all weather mats

Took my car to the dealer yesterday to have an extra set of TPMS sensors programmed. When I got home, I noticed a black zip tie punctured through my all weather mat. It appears that the dealer has decided (without my knowledge or permission) to puncture a hole in my mat and zip tie it to the base of my seat so it wouldn't move

I understand there's been some issue with the all weather mats and the accelerator getting stuck. However, this seems like a fairly strange and ineffective solution to a potential safety hazzard.

I'm a little upset at the dealer for doing this because:
1. The zip ties look hideous. I notice it everytime I step into the vehicle
2. The only way to thoroughly clean under the mat is to cut the zip tie and remove the mat (hence the ineffectiveness of their 'solution')
2. They've just compromised the functionality of my all weather mats because there is now a puncture where water/ice could seep through

I'll probably go back to the dealer and ask them to replace my mats. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

Thanks!

Bastards!! I cant believe they didnt even ask you if it was ok to damage your mats!!
They actually have my carpeted OEM mats wire tied down as well. I hate it just as much. I've only had my car for about a month and I gotta just take them off. it's annoying. I have had toyotas for years and never had a floor mat move from the hooks.

The dealer is just covering their A!#@! but they should have at least asked you before punching holes in the mats. Hope they replace them for you.

The zip tie method is the "temporary semi-permanent" fix mentioned in the official recall letter Lexus mailed to owners.

Supposedly there's a less ****ty fix in the works but not ready yet.

They absolutely should NOT have done it without talking to you though, and yeah I'd be expecting free new mats and at least my next service visit comped on top of that.

Glad to see the dealer stepping up to protect Toyota's corporate rear end. Somewhere out there a bean counter and lawyer are smiling.

Half *** solution or non-solution maybe. Don't the all-weather mats have fasteners to secure the mat?

Consider waiting until the redesigned mats come out.

Maybe the fasteners are defective or come apart. So far I think we are hearing more from corporate legal than any other group at Toyota/Lexus about this issue.
