If you do a search for voltage drop this will help you with diagnosing a lot vehicle electrical issues as well as give you an idea of how to test a circuit with removing it from the car.
It's super easy and will help you out tremendously.

anyone with a 2010 have illuminated scuff plates
i know there already a topic on this below but i'm just making it a little more obvious for the my10 owners. I think the 2010 models needs some custom work to make the illuminate plates work. I tried pressing the door lights on and nothing works. Also is there a fuse specifically for the scuff plates?

I just used the multimeter on the drivers side harness. With the "door" button in the "on" position, I am getting 0 volts. And with the button in the "off" position, I am getting 3 volts??
That doesn't make sense to me?
Can someone tell me if there is a fuse for the scuff plates? All my other interior lights work just fine.

If a tech is reading this he can probably confirm
Door open = switch on, NO POWER = 0 on meter
Door closed, door goes to ground, there is a low voltage to tell the computer that the door is closed. It is also possible it will go to 0 if it is on a timer that dims the light as it goes off.
I would check to see where the fuse is. If it is missing try one in.
You may also be able to get a better answer from:
1- place wher you got the door sills
2- You dealer
3- The Lexus 800 customer service number

mines is a is350 and i brought it brand new. I brought the scuff plates online and did the install myself, it was pretty simple and i figured since it was a 07+ it would be pretty much PnP

Both buttons need to be depressed.....
IF they changed the wiring in the 2010's.. At most you will have to tap the dark orange wire in side the B-Pillar and connect it to the white wire on the plug...
See this quick guide below... It will be the same for the drivers side as well..

Based on the requests I had on my pics thread, I decided to post specific details on the installation of the OEM Lexus lighted door sills.
There have been some confusion on ths installation of illuminated door sills on the Lexus IS (250/350/F). This is due to the different level of pre-wiring done on the car depending on the year, model, or trim of your IS.
Some cars are pre-wired for plug-and-play installation. Some have the plugs but are not grounded properly. Others don't have the plugs at all. On my IS-F, there was a plug on the passenger side that's not grounded properly, and no plug on the driver side at all. So depending on how your car is wired, just follow the relevant section of this guide and it should work on your car.
The pictures indicating "driver" and "passenger" side are based on my IS-F.
To remove sills and B-pillar cover, just pull them off. They're just held on by plastic clips.

I am the one who started the other thread, and I also have a brand new 2010 IS350.
I also purchased the illuminated sill plates online, as my region doesn't get the Luxury Plus Value Edition Package.
Same result here, no lights on the sills, even with both buttons depressed.
I wonder if this is something that Lexus has to program in for 2010. Like if you don't want Daytime Running Lights??

^^^ Doubt it.... its more than likely wiring related...
If someone in SoCal volunteers their 2010 ISx50 with out illuminated sills, I can check if the wire tap method will work..
Sounds like they might have reverted back to 2006 wiring.. where owners had the same problem.. Harnesses were present, but the sills did not work when plugged in..
