I have a 2010 IS350, and I just got a brand new set of Illuminated door sills. I plugged them into the harnesses and they don't seem to be lighting up? I messed around with the dome light settings and they still don't seem to work? Should the "door" button be pushed in or popped out? What about the "on/off" button?

its the 'door' button, it should lite up everytime you open the door.

 

nope... just tried. everything else lights up except the sills (dome lights, door lights, footwell lights)

 

You sure you plugged it in correctly. Try this, take off the driver side and put it in the passenger side. ANything's possible

 

I tried this already. They don't fit the car this way, and it's impossible to have them plug in that way because the harnesses are only on the one side of the sill.

 

are the plugs one way? or try reversing it.

 

The harnesses only plug in one way. There is no other possible way. They are slotted to only fit one way!

 

That's weird cause the door light button is the key to having them on and off. Could it be a faulty product?

 

Time to break out the multimeter; see if the harness is getting power.

 

Agreed... Or I have my complimentary 1st service at Lexus coming up this Saturday. Maybe I should just have them check it out.

Still... this is wierd, everyone else seems to have no problems. This is just my luck!

 

Anyone have any other ideas before I schedule an appointment with the stealership?

 

Use a multimeter as Bichon suggested. That's the logical next step in troubleshooting.

 

Now, if I only knew how to use a multimeter! Lol! Seriously, I'm not sure what to do?

 

There you go, that was going to be my suggestion.

Check the manual to see what else is on the circuit. Are they working? Is the fuse missing?

 

You can get a cheap VOM (volt ohm meter) at radio shack.
Real simple to use
turn dial to DC volts
Red lead to pos
Black lead to Neg

Read the meter 0= no power 12-14v=circuit has power
