Hey all,

im trying to help a friend out with his 07 Lexus IS250.

Recently his ballast went out and Lexus told him 1500 for replacement. We want to try to do this aftermarket and hook up a 35W ballast on our own.

Does anyone know where the stock Ballast is located and how easy it is to access the wiring for it? We will be splicing into the wires leading to the ballast, route them to the new ballast and either splicing back into the regular D4s cable to the bulb, or using a seperate cable.

Any help would be appreciated as Lexus is just charging way too much for this kind of work. I have the same 07 IS 250 but with Halogens so i know my way around the engine bay but now where the OEM HID stuff goes.

You will have to remove the bumper for access to remove headlight assembly. You can get a OEM replacement ballast on Ebay for about $50.

I take it your out of warranty? Mine went out a few months ago, but was covered under my extended warranty.

dont half *** it by splicing into the stock ballast.

the ballast is under the headlight and is pretty easy to remove. ive replaced them before.

YES....READ ABOVE. You have to remove the front bumper to access the headlight. Then you will be able to remove the ballast.....
