Default No Panels Underneath the 2011 IS's...Anyone Know Why This Is?

Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone knew the answer to this. On my 2009 IS250 and my Fiancee's IS250C there were panels covering the bottom of the car underneath...four black plastic panels total. On the 2011 IS sedans, not the convertible, these aren't there...however the studs to mount them are. Not that it matters, I was just curious if there was reason. Thanks.

Interesting. I heard they were added in 2009 to reduce wind noise and improve aerodynamics. Not sure why they would remove them.

Weird, I wonder if others don't have the panels or if u are just plain missing them from factory.

Well I was at my dealer yesterday and mentioned this to them - they were shocked too and we walked the lot and looked at all the 2011 sedans...no panels on any. The 2011 IS-C's had them...not sure about AWD, IS-F or F-Sport models but I know the 250's and 350's they had did not have them. Very odd!

Poor Quality control has taken Toyota from a world leader to just average joe company.
I will put a claim in your dealer and let them deal with the Factory. This panels not only help to reduce noise and aerodynamics but they protect the few elements that can get damage if you run over something by accident. They also serve as a extra finishing touch in higher end cars. Also protect the car from puddles that you may encounter once in a while in heavy rain.
Lame Lexus Lame!!!!!!

Looking into specifically the one right behind the engine/under the transmission:

I was just looking through the EPC, from what I can tell, it (for whatever reason), looks as far as RWD IS2/350 sedans go, it looks like only the IS250 M/T and IS350 for 2009 Only had the larger rear engine undercover... This isn't what the NCF book for 2009 says (it just lists for 2WD models, doesn't break it down beyond that).

I could be wrong, but now I'm relatively curious, haha. I haven't looked under enough experience under various years of 2IS to compare, and there are various change-ups on the parts listings, but it still seems odd.

Does anyone have pics under their RWD sedans? 2006-08, 09 IS350, 09 IS250 A/T, 09 IS250 M/T, 2010-11?

Doubtful, but you never know. I still haven't had a chance to look under mine. -25C will do that to a persons will to know. Haha.

Jeff

I never really pursued it. I'm sure you can just get the part numbers and order it through a dealership if you really wanted to.

My understanding was that in 2009 it has 5 or so extra panels. Here's another thread with more info: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ro-panels.html

It looks like 2009 was the only year that had these on RWD models, along with the other larger undercover.

2006-08, and 2010-11 do not have them, and no AWD models.

Good info! I wonder how much those cost and can they be mounted on different years then 2009.
