Default Uhhh guys whats this under my hood?

Had my coils installed today and my mechanic pointed this out to me when I picked up the car. Looks like a nest of insulation and I have no idea how long its been there or where its coming from. Maybe its from when I use to park my car at home in the garage and it use to sit a week at a time. But I moved out of there about a year ago. I guess Ill continue to monitor it to see if it builds back up, lol

Looks like rats are building a nest under your hood.

you might want to get your car checked for rats nests.

Pink nitrous purge!

Seriously thou. You have uninvited guests taking a joyride with you in your car.

Your best shot is to pour some rat poison over the nest. Kill the critter before they start to chew up the wires or wire insulation.

100% it's a animal's nest. It's common to happen in the engine bay area since it's nice and warm during the winter ... I had a family of raccoon sleeping on top of my hood since the engine was warm after a long drive.. Ended up scratching my entire hood with claw marks ...

BY THE WAY, clean cautiously as the nest area can carry a lot of parasites and diseases..

Rubber gloves a mask and some nerves is what you need to remove that. LOL. So what is it actually? Looks like pink cotton.

now that i think about it that looks likes the insulation that was on the walls in my garage back home. they must have carried it from there up into my car. i since moved into an apartment complex with a big open area parking lot built underneath the apartments, not underground though. My mechanic ended up removing the stuff there some tools. Like I said Ill be checking weekly now for build up. but i dont see how anything can be living in there now. I never hear any noises while walking up the car. Also i clean it weekly for an hour at my car wash and never heard anything.

yep you got a rat/mouse nest. Get that cleaned up and you should be good, as long as they didn't chew up any wires. I had to replace all my wires...
