Default Where the hell did this dent in the roof come from???

Come visit the new "I've got a dent in my roof" thread here :

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...of-thread.html

Okay, while out purchasing a new french door frig today at Home Depot I get out of the car and glance over the top of the car to look for the entrance. In my disgust I see this LARGE eye-swore of a dent formed starting around the driver-side front edge of the sunroof bubbling out about 2-3 inches in a semi-circle. Uhm, I don't remember hitting anything...and there's NO SCRATCHES! So yeah, either it's a "hater" hit or something the car wash guy at the Lexus dealership did when I had it in for a 4-wheel alignment on Monday the 2nd. But the thing is, I'm pretty sure I would have noticed this dent before today if the dent happened by the dealership on Monday. So I'm left wondering WTF!?!

Now on with the remedy. since there are ZERO paint chips or scratches my first thought is a paintless dent removal service. Second, is dry ice. I have used a local paintless dent removal guy before for a dent in another vehicles trunk lid; results where perfect when finished. Does anyone know if the headliner is pulled down right there is the dent removal guy would be able to access the roof "skin"? Problem with the dry ice is simply I've not used this method before, but I hear and have seen it work before. Plus it is alot easier on the roof/hood/trunk areas as gravity helps aid the repair.

Thoughts/opinions/experiences/recommendations?

Thanks!

That is crazy bro. My car has that same problem and I just posted a thread two second ago about it. It looks just like that in the same area.

^Dude, yeah...I just posted in your thread! LOL

But yeah, not funny...but perhaps a weather thing? My car was garaged over night and I didn't pull it out until 2:30pm today (off work). I had the heat on inside, but it was obviously cold outside...but not THAT cold (around 50-60 degrees today). So what gives?

So I just checked the opposite side (passenger side) of the roof...all good there. I also checked that side area of any deflection in the metal roof...but it is actually pretty solid there. Can anyone check to see if that area on the driver-side area is flexible if you pressed down...or is it the same on both sides?

here is the headliner removed. Can't see the moonroof but it's accessible for the dent guy.

^^I appreciate the help, but that pic is of the rear headliner area. I'm afraid that there is some sort of additional metal bracing or structure right where the dent repair guy would need to access.

^Thanks for checking.

Been going over any crazy dips that might torque the car body to do that? That was my initial thought on what it's from. That would be a weak area structurally around the moonroof hole

I know its not a second generation isx50. But my current is300 has the same dent in the roof right by the sunroof. I was told it was due to my car being low with such stiff suspension. The area around the sunroof is the weakest spot in the roof and during flexing (from steep driveway entrances etc.) it dented.

No crazy potholes or bumps/dips in the roads today. But I have BCRs lowered about 2.5". But I've not heard of this being common with 2ISs at all!

So I'm parking in the driveway tonight to see if the cold tightens up the panel back to normal.

Literally have the same thing on my car. I've had that for a while now and I usually keep my car in the garage. The other day I left it out, and it was 9 degrees out and the dent was still there =\

Well then, highly doubt it'll help me then. Dang it. Perhaps dry ice will be in order.
