Default New 3M spray-on paint protection alternative

Just saw a commercial on TV for this and had to hit it up on web. Now, the 1 year time span might not be long enough for some folks...but I can see this spray being VERY useful in areas where the film just cannot go, like curvy bumpers and WHEELS! Just thought I'd share my find.

While this product does appear to offer good protection, several detailers have noted that it does not have an appealing finish compared to traditional clear films. The spray film has significant texture to it and is not totally uniform. It seems quite noticeable and in some cases did not even dry fully clear, but rather somewhat opaque. Also, overspray was said to be an issue, and it proved to be difficult to remove. This is personally something that I won't be testing out.... Just do your research and don't have too high of expectations for those of you who give it a shot.

that was my thought initially if it would look shiny just like clear coat or if you would be able to tell that its there. I might try it on a small area and see how it looks.

I totaly agree with you, this would mostly likely have the paint patern that you typically get from a rattle can paint job.

Seems the 3M spray on would be great for a road trip instead of using ugly blue painter's tape but left on after....nah.

It would be a plausible idea to use it for road trips, however I am not sure how easy it would be to remove since it is not going to be like peeling off one big sheet of plastic like traditional films... I bet it is more of a PITA than it is worth.

I saw this stuff at the auto parts store the other day. I was going to try it, but love bug season just ended. I might do it for the next season though if we can get some decent reviews in here.

I would personally trust 3M more, but they had this in the store as well. http://www.aacustomshield.com/
