Paint price for my ride rear diffuser
[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
hi guy,
just want to know how much everybody paid for a shop to paint their rear diffuser.
in my case, i want to paint the rear diffuser from my ride. the shop i went to quote me $250.
he said because my paint is really hard to match since it's glacier frost (074).
i think it's a little bit high consider i only want him to paint the outside only and leave the middle part black.
here is a picture of my car by the way.
Thanks

I actually order to do the same thing, $200 painted and installed (3M double tape option, not molding) was the quote i got but this is for a pearl white which is easier to match color. I am also considering vinyl wrapping the whole thing and they quote me higher due to the shape of the diffuser. I'm still working with them to see what is the best option. Also, I told them I'm doing it on two IS, one is white (IS250) and one in blue (IS350) and hence lower price.
How much should the installation be without painting?

believed me, i try test fitting this thing on and it's pretty hard to make it stay on since the diffuser isn't curved like our bumper.
i think the installation should cost around $50-$100 at most.
where did you have your done at? if you don't mind sharing.

California body shop are usually more expensive than other states.
$250 is a fair price. You should also let the bodyshop install it since it is a pain in the *** to install. The rear bumper is curved while the diffuser is almost straight. You would most likely need epoxy or some sort of glue adhesive to remove the gaps.

I asked the shop again for the molding and painting option. They said 160 for molding and i'm still waiting for their painting quote. This option will give perfect fitment and look. They highly recommend this option and tell me don't even bother with 3M tape because it will look bad with too much gap. I also think you should not only paint it but mold it as well.
This shop is newly established Imperial Autoworks in Southern CA. They do provide quality work.

Quick update. Imperial Autoworks could not do it. They refer me to DTM. Final quote is $650 for molding which also require repainting the whole rear bumper for best color match. I also request 2 tone colors: pearl white 3 stage paint everywhere and gloss black in the middle surrounding the diffuser fins. My car is in the shop now and i can't wait to see the final result.
I think your $250 for painting the diffuser is good price if they do quality work that have great color match.
I'm also looking for doing a conversion to the 3rd generation F Sport front bumper. Some members have done it themselves. I wonder what parts do you guys need and how much labor cost am i running into?

i remembered there was a threat somewhere about a guy that converted his front bumper from 2nd gen to 3rd gen and he said it costed him over $2000 for the whole thing. To me, that's a lot of money but the hard part is to find a legitimated shop that'll be able to do this.
