Had some time this weekend to make some bumper plugs. Bought some retainers from Lowes (Hillman brand) for $4. Used a razor blade to remove the burrs and make flush the holes w/ my bumper and got some touch up paint to paint them. Didn't oversize any of the license plate holes, instead I just trimmed the plug small enough to fit snug just incase i wanted to put my plate back on w/out getting larger screws.

Anyways, I would like all of your opinions on if the 4 plugs look alright or does it look tacky?

Its okay. I would put my front license plate because its required here in CA plus i have front tint so i dont wanna get 2 fix it ticket

 

Clean man...Short of going to the body shop to go fill in the holes and respray its clean. Cheers for DIY'ing...

 

Not bad! I have that big black plastic piece behind my license plate too....I hate it. I tried to take it off so I could just have my plate there and I saw the holes and aborted mission LOL

 

Looks good. Almost anything is better than the plate or bracket.

 

Do you have any pics of the holes before you used the razor blade to trim it down before inserting the buyer plugs?

How flat did you get it before putting in the plugs?

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I'd get it professionally shaved but I have a perfectly good clear bra that I don't want to have removed and replaced. I guess this looks decent enough while I wait for the day to get it shaved.

Sorry I just have that one picture (4th pic) of the holes. I tried to go flush as possible to reduce any gapping. If i had high grit sand paper, I would have probably taped off around the holes and sanded it down to be even more flush. Also the plugs have a fairly long neck so i did a lot of cutting and get the right fit with enough play to make minimize the gaps.

Hope that made some sense.

 

Looks good. To fill the holes left by the emblems, i just used some 3m vinyl, used a hole puncher to make circles, and colored it with touch up paint. The plugs are a great alternative but i wanted it to sit more flush.

Meh, to me I'd rather clean-up the ugly holes as best as possible and be done with it. The plugs (to me) stick out more than the little bolt holes in my own bumper.

 

Looks good... plus if you ever sell and they want to mount a plate it'll be super easy for them.
