Default Pleasant Surprise - Excellent Highway Gas Mileage

I’m the owner of a 2024 convertible that I’ve had for 2.5 weeks. It’s a Canadian car.

My wife and I, and our best friends celebrated our wedding anniversaries this weekend.

A lot of driving was done.

I now have 1200+ kms on the car (745 miles).

With my wife, myself, our weekend luggage in the car, and the top down cruising on the highway between 112 - 120 kmh (~70 - 75 mph), I averaged 6.8 L/100 km fuel consumption.

I did not use cruise control since I vary my speed as part of my break in procedures. And, as mentioned, the top was down.

I drove in COMFORT mode.

That’s 34.5 miles per US gallon or 42.5 miles per Canadian gallon highway fuel consumption…from the 5.0 L V8!

Unexpected, and pleasantly surprised. 😃

i think it may have more to do with the 10 speed auto and a very tall final ratio.

I had an extended stretch across New Mexico @ 82 MPH getting 32.6 MPG, also in Comfort Mode. FYI, Sport and Sport S+ don't use the top two gears so when you're going for fuel efficiency you want the car in Normal, ECO or Comfort to use 9th and 10th gear. During that New Mexico run I ran about half the time in ECO and half in Comfort and saw no difference in MPG, but the suspension was a bit softer. So ECO mainly seems to mute your throttle inputs at lower RPMs. It might have an effect on city MPG but I didn't see a difference in highway MPG.

Agree with both suggestions, aero and transmission efficiency.

I was looking for a luxurious GT vehicle for my wife and I to enjoy. The good gas mileage was an unexpected bonus.

I am thoroughly impressed with this car!

That's good news, mostly. I rarely run long distances with the top down and will have to wait till the wife is not with me to do so. Will start running in comfort now as you are correct about the lower gears feeling different.

I have a 2021 and fuel consumption is 10 litres per 100 km on average. Best I have seen is 9.3

Not sure the claim that Sport modes don’t use the top two gears is correct. My 2018 LC uses all ten in all modes.

I did 450 miles yesterday with a 2024 coop and got 30 mpg. I was also surprised and impressed.

Got my 2019 V8 Coupe in april and drove it for 1000 km with half of it being highway cruising at 130 km/h and I am at 9.6 l/100km (24,5 MPG). The fuel economy is indeed impressive with these cars.
Enjoyed it a few time in sport+ mode and in manual shifting it goes up quickly though
