Default Engine oil temp

Just noticed on a drive yesterday that the oil temp gauge was max. Pulled over and all seemed OK. No strong smell or wiffs of smoke when I pulled the dipstick. The stick was a little warm to the touch but not enough to prevent touching. Watched it on a drive today and within 5 minutes the gauge was at max but stayed white. Seems if the temp was in the danger zone something would turn red. Anyone experience this? Nearest dealer is about 100 miles away, would it be safe to drive there? Will call dealer Monday morn, just looking for some advice. TIA

I think what you are seeing is the oil gauge on the left that tells you when the oil is up to operating temperature. If you will notice, your tachometer red line will follow the oil gauge. Once the gauge shows all the way up to operating temperature your tachometer will have a 7200 red line.
mine goes all the way up but not to the red line

You are spot on tennman117. I have no idea why this is not mentioned in the manual and I have never had a car that displayed normal oil temp. THANKS

Mine filled 80% of the gauge in like two minutes of downshifting to second gear in sports +, 2:50 min mark, youtube video code: JH3L2xQi5bI
