Are 5 oil changes in 10,000 miles excessive?
I just noticed that the CarFax for my car indicates it has had 5 oil changes in a little over 10,000 miles - is that excessive? It was originally bought in 12/2020 so it works out to one oil change roughly every six months which means I should be scheduling one for this December to stay on the six month pace. I bought it with the L/Certified warranty which I think comes with a few scheduled maintenance visits for free. I don't have an owner’s manual yet (my dealer is supposed to mail me one soon) so I wonder what the recommended time interval is?

Looked at my service schedule and there is reference for service every 6 months, however the oil change is suggested for every 16000 km’s (about 10000 miles).
Looks like your car had nice clean oil every 6 months.

Okay cool in that case it’s right on schedule with it being done every 6 months. I was all excited when I got home tonight to see I finally got a delivery box from Lexus with my missing Owner’s Manual (and Navigation Manual), but when it comes to oil changes it just says to reference a separate “Warranty and Service Guide”, “Owner’s Manual Supplement”, or “Scheduled Maintenance”, which they did not include in my box

Here’s a pic from my ‘24 “Warranty and Service Guide” and it says to
“Please see your dealer for a customized copy of the maintenance menu, specific to your vehicle and tailored to your driving habits.”
In the guide I don’t see the typical suggestion for oil change “every 10000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first”.
Therefore, consult with your dealer for your customized maintenance menu.
Also, just in case, here’s a pic of a card for connected services (Canada) using the Lexus app. Using the equivalent US service might be helpful.
And Lexus might say, “Please contact your Lexus dealer.”

“Maintenance Menu”? LOL - thanks AC - I wonder why Lexus is so obscure about something as simple as how frequently to change the damn oil? Allow me to consult my “maintenance menu” - yes, I’d like the Stuffed Mushroom RX Loaner and a Synthetic Oil Margarita to get things started, then the Filet of Filter for my main course and a Bananas Foster scented Hand Wash for dessert please

For cars you don't drive very much you can easily stick with changing the oil once a year. If you live in a winter state and drive more in the summer, best to do the oil change in the fall to have fresh oil when it sits.
