Hi Guys, I'm new to this family as well as a LC owner. I'm looking to transport my LC from Pittsburgh to Houston (1,300 miles), I've received couple quotes from either opened transportation at $900 to enclosed at $1,600. I've never transport luxury cars before, used to drive for this distance but I'm worried about the highway debris.
Please let me know what is the best way or cost to ship it to Houston?

I'm in the moving industry for household moves and cars. $900 - $1000 is correct for open transporter and you can probably get an enclosed hauler for around $1400 maybe $1500 at the most. $1600 is a bit high. If you care about your car, go enclosed if you can afford to do so. Cars on open carriers get extremely dirty during transport and if you're on the lower rack you're more likely to get damage from road debris.
You will likely find a quite wide dispersion among carriers, depending on their respective availability, The larger (non brokers) carriers will always charge a lot more and some would recommend against using brokers (as they just sub-contract out etc.). Thus it's depending on your risk levels. FYI below are quotes I got when shipping my car from San Juan TX to Boston MA (about 1,900 miles). I used SGT as although it's a broker, it does have call center that seemed responsive. The actual carrier less so on the responsiveness. Yes definitely use enclosed. Good luck

I live in Austin and just had one transported from Chicago area, enclosed $1650 about 45 days ago.
I wouldn’t be fooled by all of the low bidders, here’s why.
I initially wasted my time with Sherpa. They get great reviews and quoted my enclosed at $1300. They post on an open board, and wait for a carrier to take. Although they quoted me 1300, they posted on the board for much less which meant I sat around and waited and waited. I spent countless time with them asking what was going on and after a week of waiting and learning the overall process, cancelled with them. They raised their posting price at the end of their contract timeline, finally got a sniper, and then the carrier no showed.
During that week of wait, Number 1 Auto Transport reached out to me, Marc. He is amazing. He did not have my business at the time but spent 30 minutes explaining the shipping process. He and his company is a class act. He was a bit higher, but told me if I would have chosen him I’d be driving my car (when you’re spending that much for a car, what’s a couple extra hundred bucks) Well, fast forward a week later, Friday, and asked if his bid still stood?
They found a carrier, picked it up on Monday and amazingly delivered it on Tuesday.
I will use him again, no questions.

I put down painter's tape on the vulnerable areas of the car and stayed away from 18 wheelers. It arrived at my garage a few days later in pristine condition. I cannot say with 100% certitude that the tape proved beneficial, but it offered a certain peace of mind that I otherwise would not have had.

All enclosed auto haulers are going to give the same type of service for the most part. A truck's a truck at the end of the day and they all have the same type of insurance. Also, drivers want a good tip at delivery so they tend to give you their cell #. Just don't harass them constantly looking for an ETA. If you are considering going with a broker feel free to send me a pm with their quote and I'll look it over for you to see if the price is legit and how much their broker fee is. I have access to where they post job orders.

Mine is fully PPF'd and it's a nice feeling knowing that the little random stuff you can't control will probably be fine.
So when you got to your destination and took the tape off, did you do anything to protect the paint after that?
