LC 500 - First Maintenance visit to the dealer (What do they cover)
#106
Can’t go wrong with changing engine oil and filter every 2-3000 miles. Certainly more cost effective if you do it yourself using good quality conventional oil.
And take it to the dealer to have them perform their recommended services at the appropriate times/mileage to maintain warranty.

I remember back in the days when all standard oil change reommendation was at 3000 miles for most cars. With the exception that if you drive the car on a long road trip spanning more than 1000 miles round trip. Change the oil immeidately (older oils didn't do well with prolonged heat. break-down of oil accelerates)
Then people began prostesting that this was conpiracy for the oil companies to sell more oil (partially true). Then with the modern sythetics & synthetic blends, that number went up to 7,000 - 10,000 miles / 12 - 15k in some rare cases. Now people are questioning if this is a conspiracy for the car companies to reduce the engine lifespan to sell more 'new' cars.
Many people have different opinions, but mostly based on what they 'heard'. Best thing IMO do what feels right for you. Either dino oil foreever at 1 - 3k miles interval (or a after a long distance driving), or in my case, use the best oil possible and what I can afford / willing to pay and cut that recommendation by half (5k miles or annually).

Took my car in yesterday for the 1000 mile inspection (at 1200 actual miles). Took them about 2 hours to complete. The tech did a walk-around video explaining how the car was perfect, tires are fine, wheels are fne & no leaks. That was within the first 15 minutes (this dealer sent a website video link). For the remaining 1.75 hrs, I have no idea what they've done. Maybe the steering gear box inspection + another hour of joy-ride?

It stated if your comes equipped with synthetic oil then only the 10,000 mile would include an oil change, if Dino oil then change at 5 and 10. My LC came with a sticker in the upper left of the windshield that stated first two oil changes are complimentary. I do not know who applied the sticker. It did have a Lexus logo.
