Default Normal wear and tear or big time damage?

Good morning everyone,

I completed my purchase of a Ultra White 2018 LC500! However upon inspection on delivery, the bottom of the front bumper was not as advertised. In my opinion, this does not resemble normal wear and tear, but rather misuse and driver error. I ultimately rejected the car and am going to be working with the dealers collision department for a solution.

Attached below are pictures of the damage. Would anyone else agree this is not normal wear and tear? Does anyone have an estimate of how much it would cost to get a replacement bumper and get it painted? Could this be fixed well without impacting the integrity of the bumper? Looking at the pictures and seeing the damage in person, there are horizontal stress fractures in the paint/plastic from the damage.

I love the car and would love to become an owner of it, but ultimately I would like to know how much it would cost to be repaired professionally or replaced all together.

Thanks!

I agree, that is more than normal wear and tear.
A small rub or two would be acceptable but not that much damage.
Someone else will have to comment on cost to repair. I have no idea.

it is a pretty low car, its not that hard to scrape it on things. That being said, they should have resprayed the bumper before letting it get this bad

Thanks for the reply! I know you mentioned the car is low to the ground, which it certainly is, but would you agree this is beyond normal wear and tear? Is this bad enough that it should’ve been reported during vehicle inspection?

I have an estimate for front bumper replacement from a certified Lexus body shop for $2655. A non Lexus certified shop that is certified for a couple of other brands (Ford was one of them) was $2277. The bumper itself is only $450 so it's not worth the labor to repair the existing bumper.

Awesome thank you so much for doing that research! I will try and use that as leverage for negotiation depending on how they decide to proceed with this.

Over $5k. (NOPE!)

Any front bumper replacement requires a sensor reprograming.

Don't ask how I know.........

MY BAD!

I went over my old receipt/bill and the total job was just under $3k.

Car had to be flatbedded to a LEXUS dealer for the sensor recalibration.

This is EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you very much for sending this over to me. I really really do appreciate it. Was this a Lexus certified center? Lexus themselves?

Sweet, I actually used to live over that way. That’s not too bad of a quote, thanks very much again!
