Default Tires; Houston, we have a problem, Especially us 'Stoners

I should have been better at picking up the little clues.

Back at Discount Tire today getting the Correct tire platched. I should have heard these 2 little bells dinging last week. Discount had NO front 'Stones in stock, in fact there is only 1 in the Entire State and it was, WAS all the way on the other side of the state. For grins and giggles I called the Lexus dealer. They have Exactly ONE tire At All for the LC. 1. A 21"Michelin Pilot SS for the front. No other LC tires in stock. (Cannot Get The General Manager or Sales Manager to even return a phone call. )

I've been keeping an eye on my rear tread depths. I knew I was around 5-6/32. I've been doing a bit more Spirited driving lately. Discount always checks the depth with a digital guage. Now the rears are showing 5/32.

Heck with it , while I was there I figured I'd go ahead and order 2 new 'Stones for the rears. No, no you won't. According to the Discount Manager, at least the rear LC 21" "Stone Potenzas ARE BEING DISCONTINUED! They showed 2 of them available at other stores. At Discount even the rear 21" Michelins are Backordered. If you need rear tires At All, RIGHT THIS MINUTE, you are pretty much screwed. I went ahead and had them order 2 Michelin rears. Even then they will have to get 1 tire from 1 store and the other tire from another store.

If this keeps up, that Runflat Vs Non Runflat arguement? Bridgestone and Michelin may solve that issue for us.

I may likely call Bridgstone USA and double check/raise holy hell as appropriate. I do wonder if the Bridgestone Alenza, which appears to be Exactly the same tire, will be the OFFICIAL replacement for the Potenza. Strange that Discount had no issues getting the Alenza in my size to their store. My head hurts.
Bruce in Fl Yes, we have no 'Stones.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
So I go to Discount Tire to get the 2 rear Michelins put on.
You won't believe this. When the tirE was delivered to the store they checked it in Twice. But they only got 1 tire.
For my inconvenience of having to come back in for the other tire and for the minor issues we've had so far...
A Full refund. And I get the tires and everything Free.
A $1400 early Christmas present.
Unbelievable.

I always wanted the Michelins. I had plenty of live left in my fronts and I wasn't thrilled about combining brands. Not being able to get the Stones at all makes it not wholly my own decision. Bruce in Fl. OfCourseMyMostFavoriteMichelinsAreFreeOnes
