Lexus Warranty Question
I had my installer hard wire my Escort radar detector through the rear view mirror and obviously he ran the wire to the fuse box. My car was in the shop trying to solve my rattle issue, but the service advisor says Lexus will not really try to solve the issue or look farther around the dash because I put in a aftermarket radar detector. I told him the rattle was definitely there before installation, but I did not bring in the car to the dealer until way later. Is this true about Lexus and after market add ons. My radar installer says that is not true?

I talked to both a newer tech and veteran tech at Melbourne, Fl Lexus. They wanted Nothing to do with Any sort of any camera or detector install. Further, they would attempt such only on order of their service manager. That was in through the mirror or fuse box.
This was right after my service advisor saying he'd had several detectors hard wired into a Lexus fuse box.
The techs also mentioned having an install done elsewhere could void the warranty.
There was talk from one dealer in Florida about voiding a LC warranty for a 3rd party detector wiring but a tech from the actual dealer was on here saying he'd seen the 3rd party install and it was a total mess. They didn't end up voiding it though.
I actually somewhat understand. The can bus system has them all freaked out. It's apparently easy to kill one electrical item you didn't think would be affected by the one you are actually working with.
Ie; the C8 Vette Side mirror being killed by a detector install and the LC full nav system bricking by the Apple play install. These discussions were 2.5 years ago Before I heard of there being an Official Lexus dashcam they Will supposedly install. They might also be freaking a bit from the Youtube LC front camera installs. This requires Extensive interior dissassemly and reassembly. In the rare instance where you had That done and developed ANY dash squeak I could see Lexus servicing laughing in your face.
Luckily here in Melbourne, traffic enforcement is very lax unless you are driving around in certain parts of town That Need Additional LEO attention.

I've seen similar stories in the Forum about Tires and the TPMS system. Put new tires on the 2016 ES last year, they were more expensive at the Dealership and luckily I had them installed there. The TPMS system was a problem even for them, they had to re-flash (?) the system to get the dash readout to return. Doubtful they would have done that for free if someone else installed the tires, who knows. Also the reason we are having the Dealership install the Beat-Sonic CarPlay in the RXL, any issues with installation and it's on them (plus we get a "free" service vehicle).

Not sure, maybe the ES was a one-off (didn't change the rims, just the tires). It wouldn't show the pressures on the dash and kept showing the low tire pressure indication. The only other Lexus tires I've changed were on the RXL (2018) and they were done by Costco with no issues.
