Default Savagegeese Review of the LC 500 Convertible - Get One While You Can

Another Savagegeese LC 500 review - Mark is a prior owner of a leased 2018 coupe and they've done several videos on the LC 500 and have been sounding off about how good this car is for a long time now.

I found this particularly valuable for the coupe vs. convertible decision as they detail how much rigidity is lost and how bad the cowl shake is. Mark also mentions the rumor that the 2025 model year is likely the last one and Lexus will likely do some sort of performance-ish send off. Also interesting that in Japan they get a trans cooler as these have a tendency to overheat with just a few minutes of hard driving. I doubt (and Mark doubts) it will be a full F model as those rumors have been quashed, but likely some additional cooling and maybe another performance option or two. No reason why they can't make an LC 500 F Sport I suppose, but they will likely call it something else.

Good to hear from someone who's driven both about how much the performance pack stuff (VGRS, rear-wheer steering) improves the handling

Interesting to watch, have to say it kind of put me on the defense. I bought the Convertible for the open top, no matter what you can't open the top except on a Convertible. I kind of get the performance/track/handling thing, but can't say I ever thought it was a Track car. Love it for road trips, drives with the wife (or any other reason to take it out) with the top down. Don't necessarily drive like a 75yr old women as referenced, but I am cognizant of Insurance and Tickets. That said it's nice to know the power is there when needed (walk quietly stick thing?). Tech? Having had 360* viewing on another Lexus, it would be nice. But I preferred the original layout of the Dash (and paying 95K before taxes for a 2023 this year). I can't say I use the touchpad much anyway with the Climate Concierge and CarPlay (Ottocast installed).

Still happy with the Convertible decision. Suns out, going for a drive!

Good video. Agree with all points.

I know all the reasons why I bought my ‘24 vert, and most of them are subjective.
This is an emotion evoking car, not a technical numbers car.

Love it!

Considering the additional news that the V8 LC500's are no longer sold in the UK or Europe, it's going to be hard for Lexus to justify continuing to build this car. I suspect that MY2025 will be the last year as well.

SG's 2021 convertible video demonstrates why, it has to do with extra bracing for the convertible going where the rear steering rack goes on the coupe. They could probably have made it work, it just takes designing the bracing correctly. Not knowing the take rate on dynamic handling on the coupes, I suspect that giving the convertible the dynamic handling package wasn't a priority.

There's little to no chance that they do anything with the powertrain for a final year car, as that would incur the costs of EPA re-certification (which Honda and Toyota avoid like the plague with their "special edition" cars). The trans cooler available in Japan could be added, maybe a special set of wheels for the "final edition", possibly a special color. Honda did this with the NSX Type S in its final year and the limited availability and prioritization of dealers over customers really angered the fan base. I hope Toyota doesn't do something similar.

Watched it today...they hate its numbers but love the drive. Defines the LC perfectly. Hilarious how driver drowned out co-driver with a smirk and throttle😂 Quality stuff!

I agree with you. I actually purchased my 23 Vert earlier than I had planned. I was looking at purchasing a new vert in the fall of this year, but after I saw how the screen was implemented on the dash, I did not like the look, so I purchased my 23 LC converible in September 2023 (the only tech I miss from the 24 LC is the front camera which would be very usefull). I sold my pampered 06 SC with 45k miles as well as my pampered 13 LS460 with 64K miles so that I could do a cash deal on my 23 LC. I never missed my LS, but I did miss my SC. However, everytime I cranked up my LC, I totally forget about the SC.

I initially wanted a sand top, but was hard to find a fully loaded Vert that was close to my home. When i saw this loaded vert one state away with 7k off MSRP, i grabbbed it. I glad i did. The black top matches the black trim and wheels. When the top is up its a different color combo than when the top is down. With the sand colored top, it's a similar color combo when top is up or down. Im happy and amazed everytime i go to the garage and see me dream car. Im so blessed and thankful 🙏🏽

Agree with you about the Garage thing. Every time I open the door it's looking at me like one of my Dogs wanting to go out and play! The Convertible for me is more of an "ethereal" experience, besides, living in the Detroit area there are way too many performance cars to compete with (and money for those cars). I unfortunately can hear Woodward avenue (M1) and sometimes the M1 Concourse track all day long ;(
