What we should have is the key on our phones. My BMW has this and it is a real boon, especially since you can set it to unlock as you approach the car and lock as you walk away.

I agree this would be ideal but I could see trouble if I'm out and my phone dies or the like, so I'd probably still carry the wallet key as well.

We have Lexus app. That can unlock, lock, remote start.
Soon we will be able to bring the car to us too.
I'm new to Lexus. Can it be set up so that I can unlock, lock and drive my car with just my phone?
No, you have to have some form of a key. The key card is very convenience. 3 credit card thick. Stay in my wallet. The vehicle will warn you if the battery is low. And if the battery is dead, there’s a physical key in the card that you can use to open the door. But I’m not sure if you can start the car if the battery is dead. At that point, I probably would call Safety Connect. Lol

You cannot drive it with the phone. You can remote start but as soon as you open the door the car will turn off and you need the key then to restart and drive off.

When the fobs die you can start the car by physically using the fob to press the start/stop button (push the button using the corner of the fob). I'd be surprised if the wallet key didn't work the same way.

Same hesitancy BMW folks went through when it first got introduced. Most have gotten over it. I usually only bring my phone to drive my BMW but if I'm going on a road trip I will being my regular key fob.
