Take your car to a body shop of your choice not theirs. This is the same as an insurance claim you have the right to chose the repair shop.

Why move the responsibility of putting the car back to its original condition to someone else? Let the dealer handle everything before giving the key back to the owner.

Dealer will try and fix the damage at the lowest possible cost just like an insurance company. But sure if you're happy with that.... and definitely trust the same dealer that damaged the car.

Dealer either does bumper respray in house or has a local contract with an auto body shop to do it. Dealers respray bumpers all the time when prepping L-certified cars or repairing damage to new vehicles that happened during transport.

OP should trust but verify, it's just a bumper respray.

Here in lies the issue. To most people and the dealer it is just a bumper respray. It is just another unit that they did not take the proper precautions to not have this happen. If you are going to keep the car for another 10 years it does not matter. Let them spray over the damage and probably over spray the rest of the car while doing so because they just don't care and move on. You are more concerned about the loaner anyway, which is totally amazing to me.

Did you miss the part where I said trust but verify? If it's not done correctly you can make them fix it again, or you can try and fight to get them to send it wherever you want in the first place which they won't do.

Anyway sounds like OP is "most people" so what's the problem here?

There is no problem. You are correct. Verify that the people that tore it up in the first place repaired it poorly, eat the dimished value and move on. If they do It poorly he might get a better loaner on the second time around!

I bet you all think people spit in your food too.

Do what you want if it happens to you, I'm not arguing this anymore

Default Always check your car going in and coming out.

After service was done, I was handed the keys and was about to go on my way feeling good after the new oil change, then WOW!
I see this major scrape on the side of the bumper that wasn't there when I dropped it off. I handwash my car twice a week and my car is caviar black so Im aware of any minor scratches on the body.
They did take pictures of the car before taking it in for service, so they admitted there that it was their fault.

I also got a 2 inch rim rash from this on the right front rim. I meticulously take good care of my car and something like this happens during the one and a half hour visit to the dealer..
The manager said he will call me first thing on Monday to arrange for a body fix, but still no word. It's 110k+ car and for a DEALER to damage the car and try to sweep it under the rug is enraging.
I've owned Lexus cars for 25 years! You always have to check you car out front to back inside and out. Take videos of your entire car because they will f*** it up and not say a word! There was a time that you can drop your car off and not worry. Now I stress out every time I bring it in for service! As soon as you get it back, if you cannot check out your car where it's parked, pull a few feet away and survey your entire car inside and out.! I see too many people just hop in their car and drive away. Bad mistake! If you pay over 100k or even 30k for a car, they better respect it! I too take meticulous care of my cars just to have some jerk abuse my ride! Not on my watch! If you do find that they did damage your car, make sure they fix it and then some! Free car detail inside and out for your precious time etc...

Southfield is closer to me also, but I still make the trek to Lakeside (even though they are both owned by the same family). The service managers are good, we deal with two different ones because of 4 Lexus's. That said, any issues we have go up the food chain and they are handled. Didn’t have that trustworthy feeling at Southfield. We also only deal with Joey Fortuna for Sales (he’s the manager so paperwork does get handed down to someone else). Not everyone can develop a customer relationship, but it does go a long way.

It’s interesting, I’ve delivered +60 million dollar aircraft from Production and Service and things happen (sometimes so egregious it’s embarrassing). Accidents know no price point, how you handle the problem is what makes all the difference.

Joey is cool after 1-year ownership of my Launch Edition I sold it back to him & broke very close to even for a '23 Ultra White IS500. He then CPO my Launch Edition them immediately shipped it to a collector in NY. Here is a pic when I sold it back Jan 2023.
