Default '24 Brake dust issue

Picked up my '24 Bespoke in late May. Noticed brake dust build up, no problem. Drove it a week or so before first wash. Brake dust seems to be embedded into the wheel finish. There's a different finish between the face and the barrel. The face is smooth while the barrel seems to be 'textured' or not smooth to touch. I have tried everything that I can think of. Hand scrubbing, 50% Mag wheel cleaner, Clay.....nothing worked.

Today while washing I gave up and started compounding. It was a moderate success, the wheel's true matte finish appeared.

I have my 1000 mile oil change this week. Thinking about filing a warranty claim. Not sure what my local Lexus dealer would do, if anything.

When I had my PPF with ceramic coating done in May I had the wheels also done. Well worth it, they clean up easily..

Not to sound harsh But, why would you expect Lexus to honor a claim because you neglected to regularly clean your wheels

He has a thousand miles on it. Regularly clean wheels doesn't apply yet. OP should see what Lexus says about it. Honestly it's probably not brake dust build up, sounds like maybe a bad finish on the inside of the wheel. There is no amount of brake dust one can accumulate in 1000 miles and 2 months of driving that won't be removed with fallout removers and/or wheel cleaners, let alone a clay bar.

If this is about the inside barrel behind the spokes, that is normal.

Just swap them out with Powerstop carbon fiber ceramic pads and be done with it. Otherwise you'll fight the brake dust for the life of the pads

Agreed with the comments that the amount of dust shouldn't require that much effort to clean, though. Inside of the wheel is typically unfinished and will be more difficult to clean but definitely not impossible or require extensive effort.
When you swap the pads you'll have the wheel off, so at that time it will be easier to give a proper cleaning and apply whatever protection you'd like.

@flowrider What part of the post didn't you understand? I have just over 1000 miles. LC has been hand washed every week since I drove it off the lot. My '20 Tundra is washed twice a month...probably.

I'm about to pick up mine brand new with the same wheels. I'll tell you what the barrel of my wheel feels like.

I was thinking about Akebono pads, but I think the problem lies within the finish of the wheels. Might just have them resurfaced and powder coated HyperSilver.

This happens because during the initial break in period the pads are not bedded in and as a result get hotter and toss out hot particles. Is there a way to prevent this? Maybe if you drive like a terrified granny for the first 1000 miles.

I am at the dealership and literally just touched the inside barrel of the wheel vs the wheel face and the barrel is noticeably rougher. My car has 13 miles on it. I think this is just normal and how it's meant to be as tecman alluded to.

I just was at the wheel surgeon. He said its a common issue with LC and ISF wheels. He has to file some paperwork before starting the resurfacing and re powder coating.
