I agree. This dealer is shamelessly trying to rip you off. Not even starting from a position of good faith. BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Lexus never treated me so poorly. Heck, we got my wife’s ES 300h from a Hyundai dealer and they didn’t even try this. I bought that car and my 911 during prime COVID markup years but didn’t run into this. This is a scummy dealer trying to milk every dollar from you…

The snack is not empty or meaningless. I like the cashew version better than the original.

well, I just sold an S550, which was incredibly expensive to maintain. Regular dealer maintenance and repair fot MB is so expensive out of warranty....... its the stuff of nightmares... rides nice though....

beautiful cars are an addiction and can make you do crazy things.... like buying worthless add-ons....

I suggest you return the vehicle and get a full refund. Dealer should have disclosed defects prior to sale, and at a minimum should have provided better safety and security for a sold car. As I see it, no delivery is complete until contract signed and dealer offers the car to the buyer. Inventories are up, as well as repossessions, so a better deal is out there.

Thanks for the advice. Actually it was returned today. It will be interesting what they deduct. I'm out the Lexus dealer inspection and detail on the door already. That was 482.00. Worth it to discover that the fron't bumper has been grounded badly.

Before you give up on the “$482 dealer inspection and detail on the door”, consider contacting the state agency that licenses the dealership. As I see it, dealers are elevated to a special level of trust due the license issued by the governing agency.

The dealer was aware, or reasonably should have been aware of the condition, and failed to disclose before the sale. If the dealer was honest and disclosed the damage, a reasonable buyer would have attempted a lower price, a repair, or not go through with the purchase.

All dealers want public trust to help them conduct more sales. Typically, a state regulatory agency has oversight responsibilities to safeguard against abuse of trust.

Based on your request for assistance to your state regulatory agency, the dealer could face fines penalties and/or other sanctions, and still directed to return the money. You could also share the buying experience on social media, or ask the dealer what kind of review they want you to post.

By no fault of yours, the dealer failed to perform and not entitled to claim a fee for detail and inspection.

Sir the car was bought from Carvana with two undisclosed cosmetic issues. I took possession of the car and drove directly to the Lexus dealer in Nashville. They inspected the car and found the second more serious cosmetic issue. They charged the 480 for the inspection and detail on the door... which could not be repaired. I think Carvana is the culprit here. Not the Lexus dealership who did the inspection.
