A bit of history regarding the pop up hood design. In Europe there are Pedestrian Safety Laws
that require clearance between the hard points under the hood and the hood surface the pedestrian
has been struck by. Easy on a SUV but tough with a low hood line & large engine sports car.
The LS/LC design needed the "pedestrian air bag" scheme to pass so when you strike the front
end the result is the lifted hood. Each of the four (4) pyro charges is around $1700 and Lexus calls
for replacing the hood as well.

I had seen the video describing the pop up hood and why it was necessary, didn't know they call for replacing the hood. Glad that pedestrian deer got saved

Lexus calling for a new hood is probably standard. Came across this bargain.
