The only things I ever spent on my 06 911 was oil changes, I did a brake bleed, tires and I replaced the main belt. Otherwise it was flawless for the 8k miles (in 8 years) that I had it.

Oh, I did replace the HVAC control switches as they were worn/sticky. Very common on 997s. Super easy, and really inexpensive.

Maintaining/servicing my 3 Corvettes, Datsun 240Z, '69 Z-28, '92 NSX, Mercedes sedan, etc. during my ownership were all CHEAP to keep on the road vs. that piece of crap BMW. I learned my lesson for sure!
Well, that's BMW... you can't really include Porsche in there too. Much better built... especially the older ones. Sure, some have issues, but I wouldn't pile them in with the likes of BMW...The newer ones are garbage. The older ones were ok.

I had an older 328i (I think it was a 99) and it was great as well. All I replaced was I updated the vanos system with updated aftermarket seals to stop cold idle surge. I also had a 99 Audi A4 (V6) that was pretty strong even at 200k miles.
