Default Newbie - 2021 LC500 Convertible

Hello, all!

I just pulled the trigger on a 2021 LC500 Convertible with 21k miles. Traded my 06 911 in on it. Should have it in a week or so. So excited!

I do have questions, but I'll search first.

Silver with black interior.... Same as my 911 was. Nice, but not too conspicuous.

Can’t wait to hear about your impression of the LC vs. the 911.

Congratulations, I used to have 2014 911 GTS a great car indeed, sold it and moved on. Now I own LC 500 Coupe and I absolutely love it, both cars are super fun to drive, I enjoy the interior and exterior of the LC more, the naturally aspirated 911 GTS sound was intoxicating and the LC is even better.

You will save a lot in maintenance cost for sure and the LC is expected to be more reliable (911 was also reliable).

Enjoy your new ride

I'm sure I'll love it! Took the 911 for a last drive last night. Fun, but I have 2 other cars I enjoy more (gen 5 zl1 and stinger gt2 my dd). If I like it as much as I think I may even let the zl1 go .. and my wife's na Miata. 😁

I absolutely agree on the lower cost of maintaining an LC vs. any other German, Italian or British equivalent. In fact, I just completed the 18-month Lexus service on my 2023 convertible last week (now w/~6K miles) and the cost was $243.63! To date, I've spent less than $500 on a car that has been in service since 01.30.23. I compare that figure with what I was spending to keep my 2009 BMW 335i M Sport conv't on the road two cars ago where I was averaging $1200-$1500 EVERY MONTH...

What can you spend on for $1200-1500 a month to keep a car running?

lol. I’ve had only Lexus and first car was a 2003 Acura TL-S.
I just don’t know what you can repair for $1200-1500 a month on a car.

Where do I start? First off, in 8 years of ownership, the high-pressure fuel pump FAILED SEVEN times (car either had to be towed or forced into limp home mode to drive at 35 MPH back to the dealer). During those failures, BMW Corporate only covered the cost twice, the local BMW dealer only covered it once and yours truly paid $3K four other times to get it back on the road. Beyond this obvious known mechanical issue (which BMW refused to acknowledge), both 'angel eye' headlights failed (after warranty of course) and needed to be replaced; the starter went out (twice); the windshield washer reservoir cracked/leaked (the part was less than $50 but getting to it required $300 of labor due to its position in the side fender); the hard top convertible guide strings broke (both of them) and after scratching the rear deck lid, needed to be replaced, along with those deep scratches repainted and top recalibrated/realigned, etc. I have a file 3 inches thick of BMW invoices that I pull out and look at every now + then just to justify why I wrote a check for an LC vs. ever considering the purchase of any BMW. As I told the BMW dealer, you could hand me the keys to one of their new M8 convertible models FOR FREE and I would hand them back and say I'd rather drive my Lexus.

Nick, I've had 13 Hondas/Acuras over the years including an NSX, 2 Integras, 3 RSXs,a Legend/TL, a recent Civic Si, 4 CRVs, and a couple of Pilots. It wasn't until I special ordered the 2009 BMW M Sport 6-speed convertible for my 50th birthday (even picked it up at the BMW Customer Care Center in Greenville, SC and drove the track there), that I would have ever believed that a car could be such a money pit. Maintaining/servicing my 3 Corvettes, Datsun 240Z, '69 Z-28, '92 NSX, Mercedes sedan, etc. during my ownership were all CHEAP to keep on the road vs. that piece of crap BMW. I learned my lesson for sure!

While my cost's/problems are nowhere near that for the 4 Lexus's (Vert hasn't even made the 5K yet), I'm probably averaging 3-400.00$ per Dealership visit per vehicle. Almost everything has been standard check-up stuff/requirements (except I do play the injector cleaner game). Biggest cost's have only been tires and brakes (recent quote for the ES brakes is 745.00, but it does have 75K miles). I've luckily not had any major issues requiring Warranty or out of pocket repair costs (Yay Lexus). Granted, many here do their own maintenance thus saving money, but I don't have the time. Luckily the ES and NX will go away with the kids when they move. Next new addition will be the new GX and we will keep the RXL and LC.

DAUYYYMNN, I thought my 17 Por with 3 water pumps in 50K was bad....U get the trophy for most things broken. WE both learned our lesson and its Lexus from now on( i am sleeping better). Still have 3.5 years warranty left. :}
