By the way, I didn't do the navigation and DVD bypass, so they didn't have to do all of that disassembly on my car.
cool ! thanks web4488 ...have to check this out.

I ordered the camera and should be receiving it soon.

But like many, I parked my car the other day thinking I left a lot of space (since I can't see the front). When exiting, I realized my front bumper was actually over the curb (thank God the curb wasn't high). I would have taken a good chunk out of it.

If you need more time, just push button again. Attached are pictures of camera in grill-(no cutting needed), picture of button and front camera view. Works like a charm-no longer stress parking.
Also note carbon fiber wrap to door sills-looks great.

I was wondering where you got thay button from? I ordered my beatsonic cable and everything and they didn't ship me a compatible button.

Thanks

I also order from beat-sonic. With out the bypass, they dont have to tear every things apart. But they still have to take out the Navigation unit out in order to be wired. It make me paranoid, but the missing of 360 camera, make parking is so hard. Not all the places have enough space to back the car in parking space.

Didn’t even realize this thread existed. Thanks to sickpuppy for sharing it. Looks like most of us placed the camera button in the same place!

Anyways, here’s my install video:

iamnaeem…..Impressive install.....I consider myself pretty hands on but doubt I would have the confidence and nerve to disassemble my LC like you…..It was like watching car surgery. Great Job!

Default My front camera install experience

Well, having just acquired my new-to-me 2022 LC, and finding that somewhere in the 3800 miles of possession someone curbed the front under bumper, I felt as many here do that it should have at a minimum of a front camera. Since Beat Sonic was the only option according to my research, I did the DVD/Nav as a "why not, I'm here" thing since you have to go through the nav disassembly to get to the view screen. I will say that yes, it is a thrash and a half, but overall, worth it now. Since no one I could find had any experience with this in my area, I just watched the 2 videos on Youtube and plunged in. Both were great in giving me the sequence of removal and thought process to get where I was going, but did not have the detail felt I needed to give me total confidence in my abilities in removal of the panels (which as you can see is extensive). They also left out the part about getting the cable through the firewall (which I cover at the end here), and the detail of the upper nav screen long panel (which was really stuck on and was the most worrisome for me). Basically everything from the back of the door sills forward required disassembly. Now with the newer harness, you don't have to disassemble the console cubby to to the USB cable to get power. It now attaches to the harness with a quick connect behind the nav screen (but the video has not been updated to show this). Fortunately I only pulled a couple of screws before realizing this and stopped the cubby disassembly. If you are only doing the DVD/Nav, it is simpler, as you don't have to disassemble the upper front dash and the speedometer 2-piece housing and the long pad under the front screen to get to the bolts on either side to get the front screen off. Both of these worried me the most with concern for breaking them. I have to tell you, this car is put together tight and overengineered, Where an American car would have 2 screws, this one has 14 clips and 3 bolts and 5 screws. They are tight and require a lot of pulling in the right direction to get the first clip to pop. Once you do, the next generally follow easier. One thing I will say is that Eric at Beat sonic sent me a multipage picture guide as to the specific clip diagram and where to put your hand and the direction to pull for each panel individually, but only after I was mostly done and after I had asked him a couple times about how to get the upper screen and long pad panel off. Too little, too late. He should have included this in the original material upon purchase. Make sure you ask for it. I felt kind of like," here is the harness, here's how you hook it up, have fun". " and "Oh by the way, now that you're done, here's the way you do it."

Make sure he sends you the multipage removal diagrams. If I ever have to do it again, I would do what I did when I needed to remove the door panels and replace the locking mechanism on my SC430. In order to remember where the multitude of 10mm bolts, screws and sheet metal bolts go, I took a piece of flat cardboard and lined up the fasteners in a row top to bottom with the rows coinciding with the specific panel they belonged to in order of removal. Then, when reassembling, start at the bottom and go back up. I have to tell you, there are so many bolts and screws, that once I finished, I had 5 bolts left over! I did go back and all but 1 were in the center console as this thing has tons of fasteners. Some I had put in the wrong spots in the heat of wanting to end a long project and just be done with it. I corrected all that now that I was unhurried. Make sure to take good pictures of the locations of everything in the console in detail prior to removal as they are easy to miss and by the time you come back to reassembly, memory may not be as clear as when you are plowing ahead with removal. Wouldn't have happened if I had done the cardboard thing. Thought I would just take pictures to follow, but high anxiety and the difficulty in panel removal and not sure what to specifically remove in what order got the best of me. Fortunately the console is easy to get to and recheck.

Also, the videos aren't accurate for a couple of small things on the 2022. The very first step shows 2 bolts at the back of the console in front of the armrest to start console disassembly. Mine has a small rectangular plastic piece visible after pulling the armrest back. Pop that off and you can see the one bolt holding the first panel on. It goes from there just finding what is holding on the 5 panels that make up the console. Again, just take a before pic to make sure you know what bolts and screws go where and do the cardboard thing to make sure all are used.

Front camera specifically: Punching through the firewall to get the camera cable through was a bit of a thrash too and required some thought, contortion, an an extra set of hands. What I did was to find the large wire bundle with large rubber grommet located in the upper outer left side of the drivers wheel well. This is way up there, but can be seen and accessed with some effort. I could not push a coat hanger with a front loop through next to the cable as it is too tight around it, so I cut off the end of the hanger to make a pointed end and pushed it through the at the 6:30 position of the grommet just below the cable to get through into the engine compartment. It is impossible to see the engine side since there is a piece of equipment bolted to the firewall that is in the way. I had to use a fiberoptic camera to view around and under it just to make sure there were no more obstructions. I then had my son push the pointed wire on through the grommet while observing it come up to where I could grab it next to the sidewall of the engine compartment. Turns out, that angle causes it to thread up right next to the side panel where you want it to go anyway with no manipulation required. I then taped the camera cable onto the wire and pulled it back after lubing it with some 3-in-1 oil. Slid through great and was now where I could hook it up to the inside harness. Shin at ACC USA sells the custom bracket for the camera to mount on behind the grill for ~$50. My body shop guy fabricated one for me when he had my front bumper off repairing the curb scrape damage (pic below).

Nav/DVD bypass: Make sure you are really familiar with the harness disassembly and reconfiguration instructions before you start to pull everything apart to get to the back of the NAV box. It's crowded back there. I probably watched him in the video10 times and made my own notes along with the instructions they sent. Adding to some of the difficulty with this is that the great color-coded instructions with great pictures are in Japanese. The English translation page is a smaller black and white copy. I had to go back and forth to make sure I was hooking everything up right a lot also matching wire colors and configuration on the 2 connectors. I didn't want to have to do this again if it was wrong.

Hopefully, if anyone else is considering this, this helps on some of the details and speeds up the process. Again, I would do the detailed pictures and cardboard thing to eliminate confusion and extra parts in the end.

I overall think Beatsonic is a good company I just feel though the video quality that it provides is very subpar..

But, it's better than nothing I suppose.

Totally agree. Doesn't show detail of console bolt/screw removal where you need it. Doesn't show how to get camera wire through firewall. Video stops with Nav/DVD bypass and just mentions that they are going on to wire in the front camera harness but doesn't show the process or shoot another video. WTF?? You'd think they would want to sell more harnesses and give detailed instructions. Almost just like they want you to come to them but most of us can't. Very poor follow through. Pretty bad when the customers have to figure it out for themselves and step in to help others.

Guys, I am glad you guys found a solution for the front Cameras. But I have to say, that camera sticking out really looks 'Jenky' to me. I don't mean any disrespect but there has to be a cleaner solution. Is there no way to use the 24 model cameras in it's place? Or does the blutooth requirement kill that idea? Here is a close-up of the 24 year model camera integrated into the front radar. For those with prior model years, It would be great if you can swap & enable this camera somehow (may require the whole grill to be replaced). Perhaps if you an swap the grill to the 24 MY grill, maybe you can place the camera in that slot where the OEM camera goes?
