If you are going to run non run flats, are you adjusting the suspension?
No. I've gone to non-runflats on all my Corvettes and doing so do always improved both the ride and handling, despite what the manufacturers say. I have no reason to believe that the opposite will happen with the Lexus.
heres a question to all those who run aftermarket wheels
what width and offset did you get?
i plan to lower with tein springs
oem wheels are 21x8.5 and 9.5 rear with +25?
i was thinking 9.5 front and 10.5? with +25s running factory size tyres
21 X 9 front, 21 X 10.5 rear, offsets are about 15mm more aggressive than stock so wheels/tires sit almost flush with fenders. Tires are 255/40, 295/35. Michelin PS4S. Handling and ride are much improved. Better pics to come.
A couple more shots. I finally weighed both wheel/tire setups and the new ones are 15 pounds lighter in the rear and 13 pound lighter in the front. Car feels so much better. OEM rear setup was 74 pounds each!
For you guys that went aftermarket wheels. What did you do with your OEMs? Selling/shipping seems like a PITA. I've seen all black 21" OEM wheels go for close to $3k and that's money literally collecting dust.
I had my forged 20" wheels with the stock RFTs for sale since July. I advertised in the Marketplace section of this forum, on Craigslist, and on eBay. Nary a bite. I finally sold them last week (Craigslist) for $500 bux to a guy with a last generation LS. Not happy with the price, but happy they're gone.
I store my car during the cold NE winters on the stock wheel/tire setup (not an issue in Texas). I also put them on for major service visits (Lexus mechanics get nervous around expensive customs and they can't replace them if they damage one). They may also be desirable to a new buyer when I sell the car. Like Lou said - there's little-to-no demand for them.
