Mine is with my dealer for 3 days and they contacted Lexus 2 times and basically came back and said the head unit is faulty and needs replacing. Basically during the install step it would lock up and freeze the entire unit an they had to reset it and reinstall from scratch. I am going to go aftermarket with a Grom unit. I will let everyone know how that goes.

i have a nice AAwireless wireless android auto adapter (2 actually) if you're interested for cheap (i switched to iphone). works great! it's a tiny square device you can leave in the center compartment and then AA works as soon as you fire up the car.

so won't they replace the head unit free of charge since it's supposed to be upgradable?

No, only for the cars with OEM wired carplay. If your car doesn't have apple car play, you will need to buy a carplay module. I have one such module in my CT200h.

The unit is awesome. I've been using it for several months now. I couldnt be happier with how well it works using carplay and integrates 3rd party apps like waze + amazon music. It also plays really nicely with the existing UI which you can access easily if needed and then switch back to the android unit just by long pressing an existing hardware button. You can also use existing buttons to access siri. Somehow the sound has also improved substantially over just connecting to the existing head unit. If you can work out how to fit it then i would 100% recommend buying this as, once you get it fitted, it really is excellent. I purchased it from carlinkitbox.com. For the carputech, I saw my neighbor installing this product on their BMW some time ago, and he installed it in less than half an hour. Everything seemed to be going well and he was satisfied with it. Hope my answer can give you some reference.

As an update I have been running my Grom aftermarket unit for about a 4 days now and really enjoy it. The wireless carplay connects well and holds and the audio 'sounds' better than when plugged into the headunit USB or BlueTooth. I know its just perception, but it does sound better. US based customer support out of Texas is also spot on! I will provide updates as I continue to use it.
