LC 500 tune
#92
Loi can already flash LCs to do this. He set mine up to pop between 4200 and 5000 rpm if I hold it there.

I spoke to Loi via facebook and was told the supercharger adds about 100 HP with 93 octane.

Considering most LCs sold new around $100k and stock whp is around 405 according to my dyno, that's ~ $247/whp.

Let's say it's an additional $10k to have the supercharger kit installed and tuned so we're at $118k / 505whp ≈ $234/whp
Here's my $/hp calculation for stock and on e85:
I bought my LC used for $57k with stock 405whp so ~ $141/whp
Ethanol content analyzer, fuel lines, and install cost me about $1000
Tuning and dyno cost around $1000 for me at the time
For e85 - $59k total producing around 440whp ≈ $135/whp

According to the D-List I could have gotten a GR Supra 3.0 for similar money/hp - not too shabby, I prefer the LC over a MKV Z4upra.
If I go for the supercharger kit at $8k hardware + $10k install + $59k liberally estimating 550whp ≈ $140/whp
Could be worth it... much much later on.

However, as you noted, then you'll have to start worrying about the reliability of the drivetrain.

6+ month update. No issues yet, power feels the same with my fuel content averaging e83. It’s easy to re-flash to stock. I’ve taken the car into service a few times now with the tune and it’s either undetectable or they don’t care.
min about a month or so I’ll be on the dyno again to test high spark Japan coil packs. Stay tuned.
