GM Design chief quoted as saying during recent Concours d'Elegance:

“I think the orders have already hit the first year of production numbers,” Simcoe said when addressing the attentive, large crowd at the golf course. We pulled him aside afterwards, and asked Simcoe to elaborate. Turns out, the C8 is extremely close to being sold out for the 2020 model year, but it hasn’t officially hit the mark yet. “It’s nearly sold out. It’s so close that it’s bound to be sold out soon,” Simcoe told us.

Agreed. In two years there will be 70-80,000’on the road. How many LC’s will there be? 5,000? Of course that doesn’t mean I won’t still buy one.

I love my LC. I get thumbs up all the time. People ask me what the car is. I live in a fairly affluent neighborhood in South Florida. I see tons of corvettes, and Porsches all the time. I have seen Two of these cars. Great to have a different vehicle. I agree the c8 will be a real novelty at first but soon you will see them all over the road.

I'm lucky enough to own both a fully loaded Performance LC 500 and a 2014 Z51 C7 convertible 7 speed manual corvette. I enjoy both equally, just in a different way. I will replace the C7 with a C8 Convertible when they come out with a Z06 in a few years. Life is good!

Only about 1/3 of the high volume dealers’ allocation has been spoken for. You do the math.

Could be that from GM's standpoint they have firm orders from dealers on 30K or whatever a years worth is. Not that all 30K have owners yet.

Dealers cannot even order cars yet. Pricing has not been released and allocations are still only approximate since they are based on how many 2019's have been sold....and they are still building them. I think it was just a case of a GM person running his mouth without any real facts. No doubt the car will be a smashing success, but if you want a 2020 Corvette, you'll have no problem getting one at this point. A few months from now it may be a different story.

The sweet spot to purchase a Vette is 5 years old with 10,000 miles...Half price.

Entertaining review with some interesting engineering facts from down under. It doesn't call out the 2020 Vette, but is spot on regarding what the LC is all about, IMO.
