Unless you are a police officer or government official you really can't get any personal information from someone's license plate — so you can sleep easily.
That's assuming there is no corruption in government.. no crooked cops. I can tell you I have received such information second hand from LEOs through first responders.
Then you must agree that very little info stored online in any database is totally safe…..So it really doesn’t matter, if someone with skills wanted to hack you that you would get hacked.
Lasty: if I throw up a picture of a car without a plate (visible) from an anonymous account online, there is very little that can be known from that view/impression (short of what I have shared). A bit of OSINT might reveal location, and perhaps time of day/year, but unless I throw a plate on there to the registered owner.. I have little. Introduce a legitimate plate and I have access to much more personally identifying information. But you do you. There is a reason plates are often blurred out or covered... it is most certainly less safe, and even introduces 3rd parties to a degree of liability. Hop on Google Maps' street view sometime and have a look-see.
i guess somebody could impersonate you, use your plate to claim that you did something that you didnt. But in my particular case, i wrapped the damn thing in a very special color and there is zero chance somebody would mistaken my car for somebody else's. Thus not too concerned.
Now why you wanna go and say that….......Everybody now is wondering what’s on your plate?
When I parked at Self Service Car Wash, one guy walkedto me and asked if he can take picture of my plate, not my car lolz. I said no sorried and he was sad and left. What a nice guy.
I live in a small, riverfront village called Sweetwater. So I took the double meaning on this one (i.e. Sweet V8, Sweetwater V8). Only had 5 characters to play with due to the NJ Pinelands plate. Also de-badged rear, blacked out chrome rails, and grey wrapped the tinfoil tops of the taillights (not an exact match, think I may get it actually painted to match the grey on the rest of the taillights, but still much better than before).

Reason: Wrong image
I run a company Bay ….. and the FST stands for Fast. Could only have 6 letters on Breast Cancer Awareness. Love the white bottom fading upward to grey to match. Also went with WeatherTech Carbon Fiber plate cover to match the roof.
Paranoid people should consider personal plate with lots of similar shape letters and numbers. Something like S8S39S3 or whatever. Its very difficult to see and remember it without having actual picture to look at.

Enough already. You drive around ALL DAY and folks can see your plates. If they want your car, sure, they can bribe a cop, find your address and then steal your locked car inside your garage. Good luck with that.
And of course, when they see my plate, they can hop on a plane, fly to kentucky and try and steal my car. Of he can just hang out at the mall and find a local LC, like yours
Of course, most crooks are not checking out Lexus Forums to find cars.
