It would be like not buying a Ferrari because you don't like the headlight controls.

I think you're "engineering mind"ing this too much. I have worked with lots of engineers, so I know that proclivity well.

What's wrong with that. I passed on a laferrari because of the HVAC controls

Sure you did lol. I passed on that Bugatti Veyron because the satellite radio didn't get good reception!

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for "Summer 2020" - any idea when that will be?

*LC 500 convertible is my next Lexus!

So I do know safety logics, the Toyota reply in your image is.... pardon my language.....rubbish and not thinking. I would slap Toyota’s face in a HAZOP.

I recently just worked with CPChem in Texas for some really dangerous peroxide handling project, very complicated yet easy-for-field-operator interlock & alarm system is developed. Of course, a lot of money is paid by CPChem.....

The way Toyota shows is: OK, so be it, I don’t want to spend money to modify the interlock programming cluster.

A lot lot of options can be used, like, you need to physically push the engine start once when you are in before you can mobilize the car.

Anyway, nothing is perfect. Thanks again Lou, for the informative response, as always.
I feel like you bringing up HAZOP because you work as a chemical engineer is like me bringing up security best practices because I'm a systems engineer. Neither have anything to do with automotive safety or manufacturer liability in this instance. GS3Tek is right, people be suing companies for any and everything. Why is the LC's hood primed to literally eject off the car? Because neither the driver nor a pedestrian can be trusted to avoid each other on the road.

Personally, I like that the remote start function disables itself so no one can potentially jump me and then take off in my car. I prefer getting into the car to start the engine, which is required anyways. I've never had much use for the remote start.

Regarding the fuel pump recall, I had both fuel pumps replaced in my RC F (high and low pressure). One was a recall, the other was just because it was louder than it should've been. My LC on the other hand has been running fine and I'm not in a rush to get it replaced since I'm not having any issues with it. Recalls are for your safety and I appreciate Lexus' approach. Besides, it's of no cost to you and you get a free tank of gas for your trouble.

You mentioned wing noise, which is new to me, but I haven't had any issues with it, so that's probably why I'm just hearing about it.

I recognize all the shortcomings in the LC and I accepted them before I bought one. I think the infotainment is woefully inadequate, the back seat is a joke, and the trunk is deceivingly small. But, with all that said, it's still my (tangible) dream car and I'm very, very pleased to own one. Now I just need to make more money to get an LFA, lol.

Lexus has treated me very well over 16 years and four cars. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that Lexus ownership is predominantly worry-free. But like so many things in the car world, your mileage may vary. Speaking from personal experience though, I think Lexus does more for their customer base than most other luxury car manufacturers.

In the end of the day, I will highly possible to own a LC500. I know fuel pump replacement is readily available now, I read guys here are getting parts replaced. Good news. Hood ejection is totally different safety aspect, and I totally agree with Toyota there.

Some time later this year.

Remote start topic, I don’t think others can jump into your car in remote-start status without a valid key, normally, engine is on, electricity is on for all systems, like ac. But the doors are still locked. All my cars are like that. Now, don’t tell me Toyota cars doors will be unlocked if remote start is activated?!!

Also, without a valid key fob inside the cockpit, remote-start engine will be off automatically in 10 minutes. All if gas is too low, can’t remote start.

anyway, I will pay extra attention to all these logic function things. Sigh, again, nothing is perfect. Know it, like it and accept it with all short-comes. Like dating a girl towards marriage, lol

I plan to scoop up a used LC500 in the next two to three years, assuming I don’t get a good deal on a MKIV Supra before then. The LC is an amazing car and getting it around $60,000 makes it even better.

I have nothing of value to add to this thread, but I did notice that the building in this picture is my church!

it's a sign you're meant to have an LC.
