LC500 newer
Why is this just 2018 model discussion? Am I missing a differentiation?
Thought there are all same save minor changes. Any comments on 2020 model.
Considering a 2020 but no comments except for 2018.
What is downside? Are these just not saleable?

Not many 2020's out there. And there is just so little difference among all the V-8's.

I can't imagine going wrong with a new 2020 if that's what you want. Assuming you get a good deal.

This is an owners forum, and is available to anyone who wants to post. I guess most owners who are posting here have 2018 models although I know some owners of 2019 models have posted here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lc-...st-here-4.html
Also there are more 2018 model LCs out there than later models:

What’s wrong? I read some issues but not severe, didn’t expect the sales is this bad!

You are selling a niche automobile for money that only a top percentage can afford.
Once you have sold to your initial base who want the car, you then are limited to who is left to buy the vehicle.
You will often see this with cars, I could only find a 2006/7 Honda Legend when I looked for one in the UK, even though the went all the way up to 2009. By 09 no one wanted one anymore who didn't already have one, so sales were dismal.
That being said, the sales for the LC have not met expectations sadly. Good for a used buyer because they now have a unique vehicle that's far more exclusive, but sad for people looking for another crazy Lexus as they have no doubt been put off doing something as radical again thanks to these figures.

Looking at a 2020 MSRP $106,000. New car for $52000.

I believe this forum applies to all LC500 models.
I haven't done much research but there have not been big changes in the design of the car.
As far as how much to pay for a new car off the dealer, in my opinion, try to get close to 20% off MSRP.
You may want to do some research online to find out the depreciation of these cars.
I believe you can get good deals on lightly used LC's. It depends on your budget and what you like,
It is not out of the ordinary to find that there is significant depreciation on luxury sports cars including the LC.
In my case, I bought mine new in 2018 because there were not many used LC's in the market and I didn't want to wait.
I believe this is a solid car but potential owners need to clearly know what are their expectations.
This car is a GT and not a racer and some people expect it to be faster than what it is and then get disappointed.
I read somewhere that the car looks faster than what it is. I think it is true.
Also, there are not any "kits" that I know of to add significant horsepower to the engine like turbo charger kits.
These kits are readily available for cars like the Vette although I am not a fan of modifying a car.
I would rather buy a car designed with the desired horsepower and associated speed from factory.
Anyway, post your questions in the forum and I am sure you will get the answers you are looking for.
Regards,

^^^^There are multiple exhaust systems available for the LC500 that in fact do add power. I have the well engineered PPE system
I bought my LC new. The last time I bought a used car was in 1961, bought my first new car in 1962. Over the years I have never bought a house that wasn't new. I just don't want "stuff" that once belonging to other folks

You should see how BMW is doing with their new 8 series coupe. 15% off MSRP for 2019's they just can't sell otherwise. Like others have said, it's a very niche market and we're lving in an era of SUV's.

Most of the time I wait until the end of the model year and get it with "dealer demo miles". My LC had 500 miles on the clock.
This gives me some room for bargaining. On my LC this was very close to 20% off MSRP at a Lexus dealer on December 30, 2018.
Since I mostly buy sports cars I don't like the thought of the previous owner mistreating the car and me paying the consequences down the line.
As we call it in project management, its all a matter of "potential risk" and how much you want to mitigate the risk. In this case, as in many others, risk mitigation = $.

Perfect buyer timing.

Bought my 2018 LC new in February of 2018 and haven't looked back. Love the car and don't pay attention to sales figures. Buying cars is in great part, an emotional undertaking. You try to get a decent deal when you make the purchase, but in the end it's still going to be a bad investment simply due to realities of auto depreciation. Just enjoy it.
