Newbie in negotiations..
Hi everyone,
The last (and first) time I fell in love at first sight with a car was xx years ago with a Porsche 944. I was in university at the time and worked, saved, invested and researched everything I could about it. I bought my first car: a used, but beautiful, red 85 1/2 944 in 1991.
Fast forward to about 2 months ago when I spied the most magnificent car sitting in a driveway. I love cars, but it’s been that long since I had such an immediate and almost emotional reaction to the beauty of what I now know to be the Lexus LC 500.
I’ve been reading every review, watching every YouTube video I can find and gaining so much knowledge from this forum!
Sadly I just lost out on an out of province 2018 Atomic Silver LC ( no performance pkg) but am actively still on the hunt to officially join the club😊.
Considering SGM but more excited for the atomic silver..interior colour and with/without the performance pkg isn’t terribly important to me personally at this point. I think the 20’ tires are supposed to give a bit smoother ride?
This car is just so exceptionally beautiful and that engine note makes me smile every single time I hear it!
I just wanted to introduce myself and continue to learn from the group.
So hi, I’m Megan😊

So hi, I’m Megan😊
(I think the SGM color adds about 10 hp and shaves 0.2 seconds on the 0 -60.) OK, bad joke for those that do not have the SGM.
I really like the Active Rear Steering that comes with the package.
As a driving enthusiast, I find that option very interesting since it enhances the steering experience particularly on twisted country roads (my preferred).
Of course not everyone cares for this option, to each their own...
But now that I tasted it, I would not want an LC without it.
With the package comes other options that may not be as attractive. As an example, I would do without the super bolstered seats.
My suggestion is that anyone contemplating purchasing this kind of vehicle test drives cars with the various options to see which ones they must have.
It is a bit time consuming but that way you will not purchase a car and later wish that it had certain options that you did not get. I have been there.
Good luck !

Welcome! Consider looking in QC, LCs seem to show up in Montreal a bit more often than in Ontario. West Coast also seems to be where they pop up "frequently." Totally worth the drive, either way. I've been keeping tabs on inventories myself after driving a white PP in Montreal last November.

I was a day late with my offer for one in Calgary and am keeping my eye on a few in Montreal. Unfortunately because I’m a frontline healthcare worker, I can’t physically leave the province at this point or I’d have to isolate for 14 days before returning to work. So even if I find one in QC I will have to have it shipped to me here in Ontario. It’s all good though, I’ll get into one soon hopefully 😊.

If you or some other kind soul has some time on their hands and could help me with a dealer negotiation, I would so appreciate it. I’m wanting to seal a deal now and am finding the process weirdly slow considering the the times we are in.
And yeah.. I need to plate in the front here🙄

Thank you Lou. I really don’t want to sound like an uneducated car girl!
I made a deposit on an out of province 2018 LC two weeks ago, which I lost out on. There are 2 other potential out of province 2018 LC’s now that I said I’m willing to sign on, one has 3000km and the other 13000km, with performance package, which I want. Both LC’s are the same price. I’m offering the same price that local Lexus dealer’s are asking for similar vehicles, but I only want atomic silver.
I haven’t heard back and I’m frustrated. Maybe I’m impatient but if I’m ready to drop $85k on a car, especially right now, I would expect more communication? Even just to follow up?

^^^^How long ago and how did you make the offers? How was it left when you made the offers? how high up on the food chain did you go? All things being equal, the lower mileage one should be a bit more expensive.

Gas Cover Switch?????
I have just learned there is no inside switch/button to open the gas cap door in my new RX350. I have never seen this and do not like! (Of course this is not something I was looking for before buying the car) is there anyway to have a button installed or am I stuck with this??

^^^^Welcome to the forum, but you have posted to an unrelated thread in the incorrect forum. The correct forum for your post would be here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...6-present-273/
Assuming you have a 2016+ RX350. And rather than join an existing thread, it may be best to start a new thread.
Again WELCOME

I looked up the factory installed options from both vehicles VINs..same performance package and options for both, so the 10,000km is the only difference.
Lou in your opinion, would you think 85k CDN is a fair max price in this market? I think I have a better shot negotiating the higher km vehicle as you suggested. .

Holy **** (excuse my language)! $85K CAD for an LC with Performance package and 3,000 KM?!?! From where we stand here in the US, that translates to about $62,600 USD for an LC with 1,865 miles! That's a very good deal IMO. Frankly speaking, if you're negotiating for an extra $1,000 or $2,000 in additional discount, I'd go for the one with the lower mileage - and it's also the color you want. I'd give it a try with the one in Calgary to see if they would wiggle the extra $1K - $2K, but if not, I'd pull the trigger at $85K on that one (their original asking was $95,601 CAD - that's a $10K discount thus far). The lower mileage is definitely worth it - JUST MAKE SURE EVERYTHING ELSE IS OKAY WITH THE VEHICLE. Did you ask why the vehicle has such low mileage? Seems from the CARFAX report that it was originally leased. Could you find out how long that lease was for? It seems to show only 2 months and a half of ownership on the CARFAX report. Ask the dealer why they haven't considered to make it into a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle? Ask if they could.
Regardless, like I said before - if everything else is ok with the vehicle, definitely worth pulling the trigger at $85K for the lower mileage one. My 2 cents.....

And yeah, the CARFAX confused me as well. It's a 2 year lease return but also states the last service was April 2019..unless I'm reading that wrong? I haven't asked if it's had the fuel pump issue resolved yet but it is certified as per the dealer website. I'm ready to sign this second if all is good with the car and I can get them down to $85k..
