Default Es250 to lc500h

Hellos fellow members,
so I’ve been al long time lurker and I’ve gained a lot over the years from reading the forum.
Now I own a base 2020 ES250 fwd which costed me around $50k usd where I live, now I was offered this LC500h 2018 with 10000km on the odo,
I would have to sell my car and add around $35k usd to get the lc, btw the lc500h msrp here is around $125k usd
what do you guys think?
can this car replace my daily drive ES250?
and would it be a good daily car ?
and also is the hybrid drivetrain reliable and if I decide to keep the car for more than 5 years will i face any problems in the hybrid system such as battery or any components? or would it be as reliable as the gas counter part?
all comments are appreciated
thank you very much.

Hi Welcome to the site - Lot's of GREAT information here and lot's of GREAT folks to share it with

I don't believe you'll get much information here on the hybrid LC. No members on the forum own a 500h. Last year (2020) only fourteen were sold in the US. Looks like your in Virginia Looks like the LC has 8,853 miles on it - that's very low for a 3 year old car As far as price, see link below:

https://www.carfax.com/Used-Lexus-LC-500h_t13807

Sorry I couldn't have been more help

Lou

where are you located? your profile says virginia, but maybe you're in canada (since km)?

> can this car replace my daily drive ES250?

sure, if you don't mind having less space, plus a grin on your face all the time.

> and would it be a good daily car ?

i don't even really know what this means, but the car is bulletproof reliable (although i've yet to read of a high mile one). if daily you need a big trunk or room for more than 2 people then obviously it won't cut it.

no one knows that i know of, but i have the utmost confidence in toyota hybrid drivetrains as they've now been doing it for decades. were you interested in the hybrid for fuel economy reasons? the v8 obviously gets worse fuel economy but it sounds way better

Hi Abre:

based on what you drive today ES vs LC, they are totally different cars with different “intent”. One is people carrier with high comfort and utility. The other is spirited driving for two with interior form of function. Obviously the utility goes way down with LC. Back seat is only usable as unusual cruel punishment. It doesn’t even have a dedicated sunglasses holder and only has 1 “real” cup holder. The trunk is super small sand you will have to put more things on the back seat. It is a much lower car than ES, and has a wide door sil requiring you to commit to bend down and slide in to the seat.

But can the LC do the daily driving reliably for years to come just like the ES? Hell ya. The Hybrid system is pretty much parts bin from tried and true Toyota. So I wouldn’t worry about that. From what I’ve seen on YouTube, the 500H doesn’t sound all too bad while saving some gas. Many owners here are buying it b/c of the V8. The interior just makes you feel special and the car has no bad angle and makes you smitten was you walk up to the car.

So how you intent to use the LC will be the key question.

LoL....I sold my 2017 ES 350 and replaced it with a 2021 LC 500 Convertible.
