First Day Experience With LC 500 after thorough shopping process.
The backstory:
What I’ve owned recently: I’ve owned a 2013 new Lexus GS 350, a new 2014 GS350 FSport and latest vehicle was a new 2018 Mercedes E300. All were leased vehicles.
What I’ve driven and rode in: I’ve had the opportunity to drive and ride in many high and low end vehicles through the years.
The purchase thought process: I loved my GS’s. I borderline despised the E300. Why? If you’re alignment and tires aren’t perfect the car is as squirrelly Possible on dry pavement and nearly dangerous in the rain. The power window stopped working at 3 months in. Three of the run-flats have blown out at nearly $400 a piece. The engine a turbocharged four is a dog in my opinion, not to insult dogs.
Therefore, I considered purchasing a used 18 - 19 S class or S-class coupe but they look nearly identical to the E300 on the inside. It’s hard to get excited about a car that may have been much better that would have reminded me of a car that I disliked so much. I had the opportunity to ride in a 2018 S class and I felt a squirrelly movement, that was it.
What is Squirreling? It when you can feel the tires and car moving around as if the tires are marshmallows. If you’ve ever sat on a bean bag and moved around a little, it’s the same unstable feeling.
I thought about splurging for a new 2021 S Class but the wait list is a year!
I have always looked at Clublexus for advice and occasional good reads but the LC is the first car that got me excited enough to join and comment. I got that excited just by seeing the car a few times and reading about it,I had never driven one.
I have so much confidence in Lexus I bought the car from Rockford Lexus On 4/26 after looking on CarGurus since March. I had it delivered in a closed carrier by Montway. The price was $1,559, credit or debit card accepted.
I found a 2019 L Certified Liquid Platinum with 4,400 miles Rioja interior. It has a performance pkg and listed for $106,000 new, I have the original maroney for confirmation. I got it for $80,600 plus tt&l snd shipping. The dealers going to give me a nearly $7,000 check to pay my taxes and reimburse me for shipping, financed Amount will be around 88,000 at 3.89%. I happen to know my buy rate was 2.94% but ultimately with the great deal I got and current market conditions I decided to let the dealer have the point, everyone needs to make a profit, it’s only $30 month difference in payment and I can always refinance if it bothers me which it won’t.
The first day experience: I got a call at 1:39 pm by the carrier letting me know he was 39 minutes away. I dropped everything and left work to meet him, my excitement caught me by surprise as I hadn’t really got excited through the whole process.
I even gave the driver a $100 tip instinctively when I had told myself not to beforehand.
First: the little bad: There was a tiny little road rash near the tire/wheel border on the passenger side front and few rock chips on the bumper the dealer told the driver I knew about, I didn’t.
The car looked so damn good overall I cared but I didn’t care. I wanted to drive it!
First impressions: Seats are so comfortable and I’m 6 feet 225lbs, more leg room than expected. Car feels like it’s built from one solid block of granite. Flooring it, shifts are micro-lightning quick- have to give props to the engineers that had to be hard to do. The ride In comfort mode feels like a large luxury sedan, puts the E class to shame while staying firmly planted. It’s just so relaxing to drive or in S plus exhilarating. To have both in the same car is a feat of engineering. Toyota/Lexus should never miss on a vehicle when they are capable of making one like this! If they do from now on I’ll know it was just from lack of effort, not lack of ability.
The impressions of others:My co-workers loved it, comments were, it’s so beautiful I can’t stop looking at it! I need this car in my life! Nodding approval! This coming from 2 Porsche, Lexus GX,and a Toyota Supra owner!
I’ve encountered people slowing down on the highway to stare it.
I simply did not think I would be amazed by a car but this one has done it!
I’ll need to get the windows tinted, ceramic coating also but I’m so pleased. I’m taking a trip to Nobu tonight. Pictures to follow shortly!

Welcome to the LC club. I'm 3 years in mine and I still turn around and give it a second look after I park it. Can't get the grin off my face for a bit after that. The vast majority here feel the same I'm sure.
I've been a lifelong Harley rider (since 1974) and I have a sign in my garage that reads "When I die, bury me on my Harley". I've decided to have it amended with the line "& my LC500".
Enjoy your new LC. I think you've made the best choice possible in the vehicle market at this time.
Drive it like you stole it.

Wow! 3 years later! That’s awesome!
Great sign in your garage!
Thanks, I think I made a good decision and I will definitely be flooring it at times!

I did notice someone inside a building staring at it for a few minutes without knowing who the owner was.
It is a terrific vehicle and I’m looking forward to all the future pleasurable miles!

Great story, and sounds like you got a good deal. Congrats!
i've had several silver cars and it never looks bad! My lc is the 'caviar' which is a dark gray with lots of metal flake... i love it.
your rioja interior is a good red. I don't care as much for the new bright circuit red.

Thanks, I think it was a good deal too, especially considering the times. The salesman told me since I had purchased the black book value had went up to $87,000.
I’ve seen the Caviar color on the LS and I loved it. It looks better than the Obsidian in my opinion.
I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the interior. In fact my cousin has recently been in a new 20 S class and she commented that my interior was nicer. In fact she told the owner of that car the same thing when she talked to him on the phone in the car with me. I didn’t really care either way even though I would agree , but it was an interesting comment Coming from someone unbiased.
