Default Oil change!

Any shade tree mechanics out there? Any who drive a Toyota type vehicle including Lexus? If so and you change your own oil and have a filter cap like this, throw it in the trash. Mine was on sooo tight it broke!!! I just knew I up you know what creek without a paddle being its Sunday. Just knew the Toyota place MIGHT have one but had to wait till Monday and my vehicle was only half way in my shop and no way to secure everything. Called O-O Orileys hoping for a miracle that they just might accidentally have one. Well, they did. They had several. It's seems I'm not the only one who has had problems with them. They have on their shelf a METAL one by Dorman...not a plastic piece of crap. I'm guessing the female housing where that cap screws into was not warm to perhaps expand in size so it WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO unscrew that plastic cap out. That's all I can figure. I never over tighten oil filters or in this case a cap....I was not a happy camper. So at your next oil change spend 30 dollars on the Dorman cap that has a lifetime guarantee

Have you a part number for the LC500? I just searched the Dorman website with no results.

Thanks

^^^^You don't need it. The oil filter housing in my LC, my ISF and my late wife's ES were all metal (aluminum). The ISF and LC are the same part, and they take the same filter. I change my oil myself and never had an issue with the housing.

welcome. What type of vehicle do you drive, and wondering why you posted it in the LC500 sub-forum?

Tundra has a plastic oil cap like this. No way there's one of these on a 2UR-GSE of any kind. Lots of complaints about this from Tundra owners.

I just called Orileys hoping for the best. I would call them. Based on the several employees comments I'm going to assume it's probably a standard cap, one probably fits many vehicles

I doubt it is a proper fit for the 2UR-GSE. I've tried using Tundra oil filters (out of curiosity more than anything) and they don't fit properly in the IS F or GS F (both have 2UR-GSE engines) filter housings. It would be a mistake to replace the metal housing on the LC500 with an aftermarket piece that doesn't have a center section like the metal one does, nor is it even close to as long as the OEM metal filter housing.
