If your issue is that Lexus doesn't allow customization of cars, that's just how they operate. Your local dealer can dealer trade for any car easily up until the point that it's being shipped to its intended dealership. My LC500 Convertible had just been built and was parked on the lot in Japan, intended for another dealer. I put down a deposit and my dealer traded for it. If your dealership won't trade for exactly the RX hybrid you want, that's their fault, not Lexus. You can search nationally for exactly the Lexus you want, if the dealer won't do it for you.

There is zero value in building a "relationship" with a salesperson at a dealership. For whatever minor perks you get here and there, you are likely (a) not getting the exact car you want when you buy or (b) paying more than you would if you searched nationally. I buy from all over the country then make friends with the service department. Sales can go fly a kite.

You may have answered a few questions for me. I am starting to seriously look for an LC500 convertible. None in the local area. I intended to check first with the salesman we worked with us for the RX450h to see if the local dealer could bring in anything I might find, or find one themselves. Then the question is what kind of service I can expect from the local dealership as to warranty work and maintenance.
I am also considering a Jaguar F-Type. Had one before, liked it, and got excellent service from the dealership. Do not know if they can locate/acquire a car not in the area either.

of course dealers vary, but warranty and service work from most lexus dealers is excellent. of course Lexus IS a VERY reliable brand which means you won't be going to the dealer very often most likely. my LC has 4000 miles on it and I've never been to a dealer yet! I will soon to get an oil change. one easy thing you can do is go on autotrader and see where LCs are all over the place. so you could even tell a dealer, hey, get me this one for this price and you have a deal.

That is what I have been looking at(autotrader. cargurus, etc). Will see if my local dealer is willing to bring in a vehicle from across the states.

JUst picked up my new LC from across state lines. I picked it up in Michigan outside Detroit. Drove her home and loved it. Red/carmel, sport package with ML stereo, CF spoiler, and HUD. It was worth the trip. 560 miles round trip. Find it on the internet and bought it. I knew exactly what I wanted so as soon as I found one I bought it. I put a limit of 500 miles because i was not driving to California or anything like that.
