Default Oil

Took my convertible in for her complimentary 5k Service.

I learned that this engine requires new oil every 5,000 miles.

They include a conventional oil change in this free service with an option of upgrading to Mobil 1 synthetic for $80.

I upgraded.

For future reference Bell Lexus here in Scottsdale charges $155 for a conventional oil change….$235 for Mobil 1.

What are YOU running?

IMO, there is no difference in engine when it comes to Dino oil vs Synthetics. Especially in Arizona where you are, it wouldn't matter to me.

In colder climates, the problem with dino oil is that it tends to thicken up, hence turning the engine over on startup can be easier with Synthetic.

I’ve been running Mobile One. I bring it with me to the dealership. I’ve been thinking of switching to Amsoil. The reviews and objective tests I’ve seen are impressive.

Unless you're planning on keeping the car for 500k mi. and even then it probably makes no difference.

My car was certified used and Lexus gives me 3 free synthetic oil changes. I would only use Synthetic,

Just had a conventional oil change at Highland Park Lexus in Highland Park IL. $82.00. I may go synthetic on my next change.

I did Synthetic on my RC F. Brought the convertible in August. Went in for an early change at 1,000 miles after break-in. My dealer did not have full synthetic and used a Blend. Not real happy about that. It may not make a difference for many years, but I use the best materials for maint. I hope to keep this cars for many years. Don’t expect to buy another ICE car.

Default Break in procedures (oil change @ 1500kms?)

The book doesnt say whether or not to change the oil at 1500kms but i figure its a safe bet to do it just in case. Due to the crummy weather and a busy work schedule ive barely broken 600kms so far.. (its only been a full month since i got her) so i guess its normal usage for an LC.

So far ive kept it pretty much under 4000rpms for the first 300kms and only did 1 maybe 2 full throttle blasts from first gear (couldnt resist).

I have a free complimentary service at 1500km but i dont think that includes an oil change so ill just pony up for that just to keep it all clean and tidy for a road trip this summer.

Also ive noticed that the wiper blades have integrated washers on them... so i guess no more swapping them out for bosch icons and probably stuck doing inserts 4 life?

I as well could not find a maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. My initial appointment was 1 month after I took delivery where the dealership did a check up and this appointment was booked for me when I picked up the car.
Further, I also went back last week to the service department as I am just coming up to 6 months possession of my vehicle and I have 1000km on the odometer. They told me that the LC has a "special" maintenance schedule and printed one off for me. It included what services needed to be done and the pricing. I have an appointment for my first oil change and required servicing in about 10 days from now. The document actually said to service at 1600km but based on the time interval I have owned the car, it is now due.
I kept me RPMs below 4-4.5K during the 1000km suggested break in period. Last week was the first time I used the paddle shifters and Sport mode, yet did not rev above 5k.
The car has not used any oil over this break in period of time

You guys are so diligent with the car, I been bad boy and couldn't resist and been over 5,000rpm often and shift with paddles and in Sport+ mode from time to time, odometer still under 1,000km!

It's just so hard to resist!

I'll have to contact my local Lexus dealer for the first service soon. I didn't book the first service appointment from the place where I got the car from, it's ways away from me, I only went there because none of the local dealers had anything, or they had available '22 LCV stock in showroom or on a boat incoming but playing games and refused to sell to me.

Thanks for the information. I have my appointment tomorrow morning. The service department said they will also be changing my oil at that time. I am going to request a synthetic oil replacement and will see if they oblige.
