Arrow Gauging a used LC500h deal - Help!

hello folks, new to the forums - current 3IS owner looking to jump into an LC! as yall know, new ones are kinda hard to come by, and for some reason my local dealers are not taking custom orders at all. so I'm looking at some used car options. hopefully this is the right place to ask the amazing community/hivemind & gauge what a fair market price would be.

found a one-owner car, who didnt drive his vehicle much & looks like he babied it. this older gentleman now wants to sell it to someone who may actually drive it lol. its a 2018, has around 7k miles on it (is that a concern if the car hasnt been driven much & is just sitting around for months?) & is asking $79k for it. on the outset seems a bit high. what would be a fair offer to counter him with?

its a beautiful car no doubt, I just want to make a smart financial decision especially the way this economy is going. I'm also hearing murmurs that the used car market maybe about to take a nosedive. any thoughts on waiting vs pulling the trigger now? there seems to be quite a wide spread in prices. I saw another guy selling his 2018 for $68k though it has some ~38k miles. I skipped that because it doesnt have the color combo I'm looking for, but at over $10k delta it does make me think twice.

appreciate any insights as I navigate jumping into my first ever (forever?) LC, thanks!

I assume you’re okay with the v6 and hybrid drivetrain vs the v8 and the 10speed ?

With the price of the cars being where they are at, I can’t say I know of anyone picking the hybrid powertrain to save a few dollars on gas.

also the complication of the hybrid, the potential for hybrid battery replacements after 10 years and the overall loss of theatre doesn’t seem to be worth it to me.

yep after much thought, I'm set on the hybrid. if anything, it may keep my lead foot from constantly wanting to speed & getting me into trouble.

Most of us in the states prefer the V8 version, granted. But the original Hybrid, listed out at a higher price than the V8. If the car has been babied, and only has 7K miles, I think you are getting a bargain. Offer 2.5K less, & pray that he accepts.

If you want the hybrid I'd grab the one in question. They are very very rare. Last year they sold seven of 'em through June, so far this year eleven.

yeah I like the rare factor as well (fwiw) & that contributed to my decision towards the hybrid.

apart from the potential battery replacement down the line, anything else of concern or to watch out for? the low miles isnt a concern?

Nope, if this is gonna be a keeper! Low miles are always a plus in my book.

The "h" suits me just fine, and I really don't feel I am missing too much, albeit I would almost certainly change my tune if a V8 were doable .
I know I am all but alone in not wanting theatre and I've always preferred stealth mode which with a careful right foot the electric motors can and do provide. As for the hybrid battery, then here in the UK there is a 15 year guarantee, and realistically I really wouldn't expect there to be any problems with that, not that I would keep the car that long.
Now that we in the UK are paying upwards of 13$ for a US gallon then the extra mpg is tangible. If there is a negative then it's the cvt which can and does lose the plot going downhill and tries to brake the engine when doing so. Quite a weird experience but other than that all is good.

I think you have to grab this one. They are too rare, it will be hard to find a better deal on another one and I'll take super low miles and babied any day - that's like getting a new car. The only thing you miss out on vs new is the warranty and whatever damage previous owner did.

The price sounds OK, but being a negotiator I'd try to get him down as far aw you can. Print out the KBB and Edmunds and NADA price guides and use those to base your offer on. Get a buy offer price from Carvana and any company that will give you an offer online (there are several) so you know what the guy could get if he just sold to one of those companies. And of course, try to suss out if he's been getting a lot of calls/action. Good luck.

As Bit says, I'm in the UK, but generally used prices for h and V8 are all but identical on a year/miles basis. Occasionally you do get anomalies as is the case right now where a used h/62k miles and year 2018 is up for $60k. This is currently the lowest price, but usually you are looking at a minimum of $66 for early years/any mileage. Extra low miles, say less than 10K, surprisingly attract a lowly premium of around $4 to $5K. Having said that there are very few high milers with the above-mentioned being the highest I have seen!
So prices here in the UK fort h and V8 are all but identical and I would have thought they should also be in the USA with perhaps the h being slightly lower if anything.
BTW, I used an exchange factor of 1.2$/1£.

Brin... Thank you for your assessment. Don't think we have many 'H' owners in the USA and even fewer on this forum.
