I store my LC over the winter & leave the trunk open slighty for the charger cable. I take a screwdriver & manually push the trunk latch to the closed position,so the light stays off in the trunk.

Thank you
I too simply close the lid on the cable, there's plenty of give in the rubber seals and in practice I tend to lay the cable over the corner of the lid aperture. In fairness, the cable from my maintainer is fairly flat and it leaves no lasting impression on the seals even after being compressed for say 2 or 3 weeks. You could of course open up the trunk and shuffle the cable one way or the other to occasionally re-distribute the load.

Rather than a fancy dongle, you can use an extension like this, which is what I used:

Amazon Amazon

They come in all lengths.

I think the light turns off automatically after a few minutes.

Fine, but I still manually push the lever. I don't need the light on for 20 minutes.

Ok. I don't know where to go with this.
I've left the trunk open before. I have no clue whether it was open for 20 min or 2 hrs but the light turned itself off.
I just purposely left it up. For about an hr.
The light's still on.
FIIK.
I guess I'll just stick with what I Know For Sure works
Don't leave the trunk lid up.

Probably not a big deal but if its supposed to turn off and doesn't i'd have it checked at next service. Btw, that trunk light is so dim it may take a few days to drain battery...

I presume the light goes off when the trunk is shut. There is no easy way to check that. There are ocassions when it may be 5-6 days between drives. I'd think that
even with a small LED, after 5 or 6 days the battery would be weak if the light were staying on. That is also a manual ie; more reliable, switch.
If I have any real question it's whether the auto turn off when the trunk is open part works. Much less critical though as I rarely leave the trunk up.

The trunk light does not go off. I put my iPhone in my trunk with the cam running in video mode pointed at the light.

The trunk light does not go off unless the trunk is fully closed. I now close my trunk fully on the cord running from the battery to the charger.

But based on Bruce’s Lexus manual pic I’ll leave my phone in my trunk to verify the light actually goes off as I’d rather not put a crease in the trunk weatherstripping.

Did you leave it on for over 20min as per Bruce’s manual? Is it an LED light? If so I’m pretty sure you could leave it on for a week and your battery would still be fine.

I use the CTEK MXS 5.0 Battery Charger.

I have fastened the Comfort Connect eyelet cable directly to the positive and negative battery cable bolts.
Battery is in the trunk.

The eyelet cable is attached to the battery charger cable using the “Comfort Connect” fittings.

When not in use, the eyelet cable remains under the trunk floor panels.

The charger cable passes over the weather stripping and the trunk is fully closed. The cable does not damage the weather stripping.

Pic below of charger showing battery is ready. This is 30 minutes after charger is connected.

The charger rests on the garage floor.

Pic below of charger showing battery is fully charged. This is 5 hours after charger is connected.

Car is away/hibernating until spring (late April-May).
