I took it to 2 other detail shops, and they had different opinions. One said that it could potentially be a chemical burn - not sure from what. The other said it could have been something from the road (debris, chemical) - maybe from riding behind another vehicle that sprayed the front of my LC. Nevertheless, it won't be covered and I'll be forced to change it myself at my own cost. I got quoted $1,000 for Xpel Ultimate for the entire front hood and fenders.

Seems silly to pay that much for some very thin plastic film? I mean, in 10 years, you probably can paint what ever parts are chipped, hood would cost less than that to pain. I doubt you will get that many chips all over the front end. My last Lexus was 18 years old before I bought an LC.... Yeah, some stone chips on the hood and front bumper, touched them up, and unless you got close, who knows? Plus, if I didn't sell it, I was going to repaint the hood for $700. It was still cheaper than the film and I had no silly lines breaking up the look, or something staining it, or whatever. But, I get it, some folks want their cars to look like a show car when they trade it in, so the next guy gets it perfect and he won't even bother to thank you

It makes sense since usually repainted body panels don’t match. It’s not just chips that is protects from. It protects from other debris, bird droppings, bug guts, tar and pitting. Definitely worth the investment. Plus, a shop that charges $700 to repaint the front of the car isn’t going to do a very good job.

Lol. What a clickbait video. Your “LC” is not damaged. The PPF film you put on, and probably mistreated, is.
This is exactly why you want to PPF your prized vehicle.
