Default 2020 Corvette

With the introduction of the new Corvette for 2020, anyone having second thoughts about owning one vs the LC500?

Not me? I have had two Corvettes.

Great cars for the price.

The design style of the car just got too aggressive for me after the C6 model.

Plus the fact that, well, there are so many out there. No exclusivity.

Yes, the Vette is faster but I decided that I don't buy the car just based on the horsepower or 0 to 60 speed.

After all, how fast can I drive in the city without getting a ticket.

So I would like to admire the Corvette but I don't want to own one.

Glad I have my LC. The new Vette looks nice but as I was watching the reveal last night, I noticed how they were mentioning a lot of things that the LC has already - thin air vents, leather/suede surfaces ect. on the interior. The base engine isn't as powerful, though the Vette is quicker but as Puertex states, they will become quite common in short order.

I do like the nose height auto lift feature they mentioned, though . . . . .

Sill love my LC.

Do Vettes still come with a few gold chains to wear around your neck?

DR Gibbons:
I watched the introduction video and I was taken by the number of ideas that appeared to have come from the LC500 as well. I used to own a Corvette many years ago and while I think this is probably a leap forward for the car, it doesn't make me want to trade my LC 500 in for one either. I am surprised at the low entry price of the new Vette. Sounds like they want to crank up production in KY!

Unrelated, but a story I want to share.

My last Corvette was a 2006 with manual tranny. It had 25,000 miles on it.

The car performed flawlessly with no mechanical problems while I owned it.

The day I decide to trade it in, I drove it to Carmax and parked it for them to appraise it.

I went inside to wait while they inspected it. The guy walks in and tell me that they could not inspect it because the clutch was out !

I thought they were s***ting me ! But when I went to check, sure enough the clutch had failed right at that moment.

The clutch pedal was limp (maybe there is a better choice of word here).

I was embarrassed and baffled. Had to call a tow truck to come and get it and take it to the mechanic.

After a $1,500 repair, I brought it back and they bought it from me.

I could not believe that it failed at that specific moment but in retrospect, that was a good place to fail rather that in the middle of traffic.

Wow so what's the LC stereotype then?

I know a lot of Corvette owners from all walks of life old to young and everything in between none with gold chains. The younger guys mod them more and take them out to run the older guys keep them mostly stock and cruise around.

Nope.
My LC500h with performance package is rare, handles like a dream, sounds wonderful (to me when driving) and is built as a luxury cruiser should.
As a late 50 something, I would look (and feel) like I was going through a mid-life crisis in a Corvette.

I like to new Corvette! If I didn't already have my LC, I would seriously consider it. I don't get the stigma attached to the 'Vette. I've always thought they were great looking cars and a bonafide value for the performance you get. That said, I really like the stying of the LC. It has its own cool factor without looking like it's trying too hard to get attention.

Wanted to buy the C7. Drove one and right away I did not like it. Drove a Mercedes SL63 AMG and right away loved it and bought it. Over the years I have realized that the way a car drives/handles/feels is what makes you enjoy the car. Just drove a 2010 Aston DBS and it just felt old, but sounded fantastic and obviously is beautiful. Lesson is that you can’t feel and appreciate the beautiful looks of a car while driving it, no matter how much you drool over the car when looking at it.

The C-8 looks great, but no one knows what it feels like to drive. I have been waiting for the LC-F but now the Vette, especially the Z06, is also in the running. I know once I drive each, one will easily connect with me over the other. Good times to be a car guy!

Give it some slack and wait, its a killer on paper and looks great for $60000, by the time it gets to OZ it will be $160000 I hope not.
