Default SC300 Radio --> Toyota Metra 2 Plug Wire Harness

I have searched and read and I am still a bit confused. Please do not move this post.

From what I think I am seeing ... I get this 87+ Toyota Metra harness and it should plug right up and work perfectly ? Some of the threads talk about rewiring to make it work, but I can't tell if that is for other model Lexus's or not ...

So, can someone say 100% for sure that I can just "plug and play" or do I need to do some rewiring ? If I need to do some rewiring, I will simply just hardwire it ....

i remember reading a while back that you will need to change 2-3 wires because they are different from the older models. Other than that, it's most likely plug and play. I can't find the post, but it should be under the search function...

haha, just be careful. Before you plug the male/female part, just be sure the corresonding wires match. Good Luck!

Ok this is what I did. I bought a Scosche 87+ toyota car stereo harness (model TA02b). All you have to do is crimp it to whatever aftermarket HU you have (I did it on my Pioneer DEH-7500). It's plug and play. The only problem you'll have, and I still have is that you lose your power antenna. I don't use the radio anymore b/c I can play mp3's on my HU, but if you use it I'm not sure exactly what you need to do to make it work. If you find out please let me know. Basically you still get radio reception, it's just a bit weaker.

Thank you. (and when I get the antenna working, I will let you know what I had to do)

if your radio was p1600 without a cd button and aluminum heat since fins on the back of the radio the standard toyota adpter will work. if it was p6800 (id number on the cassette flap) it wont work.
