it works in IB but that thing is SO THIN they you will be able to fit a box around it. Not sure about pricing yet, need to look it up. JL needs a box.

yeah, JL needs a box. i was thinking that the stocked holes can serve as the box. well, probably won't work well...plus it is pushing the depth. might have to look at other subs...sorry man.

hey, you can always do one custom box and put just ONE JL W7 in there, you whole van will then be vibrating!

hehe, nah, stay with your idea. i have always liked the idea of keeping cars looking stocked and clean while, in reality, packing some serious equipment all hidden and out of sight!

The Illusion ND8 should fit in there and has a middle of the road Qts that should make it fit to work well in a small enclosure. It will sound fantastic, but output may not be terribly impressive compared to, say, an ED8A or JLw7.

Default well

i got the spec from the data sheet. maybe i am reading it wrong. here's the link to the data sheet for the W3. please do correct me if i am wrong. i only have general knowledge of these products. my friend who works at the stereo shop has said that JL Audio makes the best products these days after the main guy who headed Precision Power joined them a few years ago. Precision Power products used to be one of the best about 5-6 years back until the main guy left and joined JL audio.

The reasons I like JL Audio so much is due to the following reasons:

1. My "expert" friend raves about them.
2. Funkmaster Flex has always said in his show "Ride with Flex" that the W7 by JL Audio is the top DOGGG. hehe.
3. I have JL Audio products in my car and definitely hear the difference in quality when I compare it to other systems in other cars.

that's why i suggested JL b/c JL does rule...at least for now.

JL makes a quality product, but those drivers are going to require a fairly large enclosure for an 8", they're inneficient, and they are going to take up more volume than most of the aforementioned drivers.

The JL products are good, but as someone else said they are not very efficient. That means you're gonna need a good bit of power to run them to full potential.

Based on that chart, look at the efficiency specs....85db is pretty lousy really.

W7's are really good subs, but also pretty pricey. There are subs that are better priced that will sound just as good if not better.

I know that we're talking strictly about mounting depth here, but I just wanted to put in my .02 about JL products.
