Default Replacing subwoofer

I just purchased a new sub woofer for my 98 GS and was wondering the easiest way of replacing the sub Can I just pop off the subwoofer cover on the rear deck? "I dont have the ML or Nakamichi", or do I have to remove to entire back seat. My next question is, the subwwofer I purchased is the Pioneer 10" 4-ohm free air subwoofer with 250 rms peak power, so my question to all you stereo gurus is can I run the stock amp with the sub woofer and get more bass? I am hoping to improve the stock sound or do I have to get an amp ?

Entire back seat and trim panels must come out to gain access to the woofer. Don't worry, it's not too difficult, but probably more involved than you were expecting. You need to loosen some trim around the rear doors and remove the trim panels that are above the right and left edges of the deck (after removing the seats) to be able to get the deck out. The woofer is removed from the top.
You should be able to use the new woofer with your stock amp, but it may not be as good as it can be. You'll get better performance from it if you use an LLC (line level converter) on the existing woofer leads, then run into a new amp, then your new woofer. The stock amp is underpowered.

Thanks engine ear for responding. Will I have any problems installing the new sub in the existing hole? I have read in some other threads were people had to make ring modifications to fit the sub? I bought the Pioneer sub, so I am hoping the screw holes line up and the fitment is ok. I eventually want to add a amp down the line.

I don't know about that particular sub. You may need to make a spacer ring or adapter of some kind. Some people here have been lucky and gotten their 10" to basically bolt right into the existing opening (I still recommend drilling new holes in new locations so that you can still put the stock sub back if you want).
