Tvs in GS headrests
#2
I used my rear headrests and fit the Pioneer 6.5 inch widescreen monitors in mine. It took a couple pairs of headrests and some tries, but we got it in there!!! Here's the pic....let me know what you think!!!!

I 'd say 7" is as big as you can get into the "STOCK" front headrests. I mounted my monitor from behind so that the frame didn't hang over the trim.
You can put larger monitors if you use the rear seat headrests or have custom front headrests made. I wanted to retain the stock headrest shape so 7" is about it.
Note: no visible wires either.

We are lucky that the Lexus posts are hollow, so I ran the pos/neg wires down one tube and a mini coax cable down the other tube.
I forgot to take a picture of the wiring, but basically I cut a slot into the tube a little below where the tube bends 90 degrees.

I did mine with two 6.5" alpine on the front headrests.

Let me know if you need more DIY steps. I didn't take pics b/c I didn't know I could make it.
Alpine monitor looks good but it does cost too much (over $450 as of 02/04). If you don't need a brain that have NAVI input, 3 RCA inputs and 1 RCA output, save your money. I don't like the fact the speakers are in the back which is now muffled. There isn't infrared remote for your headphones and the wire connection is too big to go thru the pole (and no way you want to cut the wire.)
But it does look like it is the one with the thinnest trim around the LCD. That made it possible to fit it into the front headrest.

The wire going into the seat
The wire going into the seat. The alpine wire has a big connector. It can't go inside the pole. Leather was not cut and I had to remove pull up the leather to run the wire into the foam....

Sure. I built a metal box just enough to fit the monitor in using those L-shape aluminum bar as the edges and a steelplate as the base. I think the dim is 4"x8"1.5". Cut open the headrest and remove the foam (about 1.5" deep) and squeeze the metal box in. Stape some 1" wide cardboard (four sides) to the leather and stick a double-sided tape behind the LCD and push it into the box.
I wish I had taken some pictures. If anyone needs my help doing this, let me know.
