1998 ES300 - What's the speaker size??
Hi people, I just purchased a 98 ES300 and I love it. It has the "Lexus Premium Sound System" with the 6-disc glove box CD changer. I have 2 questions and would appreciate any help.
1.) I want to add an amp, a new set of speakers and an infinity basslink. I have searched these forums but to no avail. Can someone tell me what speaker sizes fit the '98 ES300?
I assume the Fronts are comprised of 6.5" + 1" tweets and the rear door speakers are 6.5". I also think there is a 6.5" woofer on the rear deck.
Are my assumptions correct about the speaker sizes?
2.) Would I be able to use the 6-disc glove box CD changer with an aftermarket head unit? If so, would I be limited to Pioneer head units or can I use any brand (or none at all)?
The only reason I say Pioneer is that I thought the CD changer had some sort of IP-BUS output that would work with the current generation of pioneer headunits. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Again, I have done a search and come up with nothing for my model year on these boards. Thanks in advance for your answers.

cd changer question answered.
the lexus es300 headunit kex-m8066zt and the matched 6 disc changer cdx-m8066zt are both m bus not p bus. even if you could find an mbus headunit the lexus has 3 serial communication lines which no pioneer headunit or changer has so there is no way to use aftermarket headunit with the factory changer.
the easiest upgrade would be to switch to 1998 es300 nakamichi headunit amp and subwoofer. it is all plug in and play.,

i have a 2002 es300. The speaker in the back on the rear deck is it a 6.5 or an 8 inch? Also it does say pioneer on the magnet. Does this mean the whole system is a pioneer? I am not looking to change the head unit, but i do want to change out the rear deck speaker. Did anyone do this before?
