That's about what the Compustar SS one costs, but you get extended range on the two-way since it's spread spectrum vs FM. Both are very very similar. The remote is also bigger on the Compustar vs the Viper one. So if you tear up remotes easily, be advised. The remotes are not cheap to replace for either one of the alarms.

Very cool features, but like ONStar in some other vehicles you will be required to pay some added fees. It has an extensive amount of features. It sounds like a very elaborate piece of equipment. It is GPS based so I'm sure it's accurate too.

The only drawback I see is the added expense of both the pricing plan and the install.

Not a bad find to share with us though.

the freedom 500 is the one i sold the most of. it is a few years old now, but was top notch in it's prime roughly 3 years ago. they have new models with more features, but truthfully they are always packed on features, so there is nothing wrong with the free500, it is on my SC400 right now. I refused to change it due to it's dependability, plus it pops my trunk, and has spare outputs to add more options. the microwave sensor for these cars are great and that is a highly suggested option.

I had the old old school Excalibur AL1000 from eons ago. I had the dual zone microwave sensor, voice module, window roll up and down modules, pain generators, etc. It was a very dependable unit. As a matter of fact, it's still in the car today which is almost 10years after install. As OLT said, these are very dependable units in general.

As I said before, I'm having the Compustar 2WSS put in this week. It seems to have all the bells and whistles that I want. I also like the extended range of the 2way feature, plus it vibrates, and it has some neat features like car page which works to summon you back to the car kinda like a paging device.

i just hadthe Viper 791xv installed the other night. remote start is a wonderful thing in the
northeast. unfortunately, my driver's side lock cylinder was broken by some punks trying
to steal my baby so i have to get that fixed before i can use all of the features. it was broken
before i got the Viper, thus the reason i bought it.
not sure if it's related or not, but do any of you that have the 79xxx have to stop the car and
start it again since the steering wheel won't extend when you put the key in it?? this only
happens when i use the remote start feature. once i stop the car and put the key in, the
steering wheel will then extend.
kinda' weird.

question on installation labor cost.
I can get Compustar from my friend (out of his car) but how much should I expect to pay for installation at local shop?
any recommended shop around NY/NJ area?

All you have to do is hit the number 1 or 2 which ever is set to your liking and the steering wheel comes down. Goes like this, get in the car, put the key in and at the same time hit the memory button and the wheel will move down.
